Try the dam... as close as you can get to the opening. Use a 4’ leader with a night crawler. Weight your line with split shots(above) the leader, so it will bounce along the bottom with the current. Use a worm threader and blow the worms head with a worm blower.... and hang on. Three pounders are common, but 5 to 8 pounders are not unheard of... be sure you have a net. If the current is not running, don’t bother, they won’t bite. I’m kind of bored with trout, catfish are my next task.

I live in Lewiston. Shasta is not out of the running for catfishing; however, Trinity Lake is in my backyard. Where wou I put in for the Pit Arm?

Thanks I will use the chicken livers... I won’t tell my chickens though, they might quit laying. Trinity Lake is a nice lake; however, California state government will not let the water stay at a descent level. Don’t get me started...

Yes, Jim Krekos is still kick’n, he lives in Ocean Shores, WA. Jim has a hilarious story about opening up on a python in a tree while landing in a hot LZ. Jim looks, and acts like Walter Matthau and is a really great guy. I will forward your message and , thank you for your service Hack... ever make it up to NorCal, I’ll take you fishing. Starsail

Thanks Hack, I corrected it in the title. My neighbor on one side was Airborne and on the other side was Special Forces. One of my best friends was also a door gunner. I joined the Coast Guard but couldn’t stay because of colorblindness. I tried though..

Are there any anglers that fish for catfish in Trinity Lake? I’m very interested in where to fish and what bait to use.I have a Hurricane 196 boat, so location isn’t really too much of a problem. Thanks, Silversail

Bait your hook with a picture of Gavin Newsome, you’ll catch a great white.

LOL!!! That’s what I love about the “Stage”! That story reminds me of my Grandad that would fish the Pecos around Roswell, New Mexico... he’d catch cats when no one else could... of course they were alien fish...

No, you can’t break wind without a license in California. Cheap California government won’t even give seniors a break in price... mine cost me $74 dollars last year...

I have two Uglysticks, a GX2 and the new one piece carbon. I really like my GX2 and regularly catch rainbows in excess of 3 pounds. I purchased it for catfishing; however, that endeavor has not been accomplished. Our son gave me the carbon for Christmas and I haven’t caught anything on it yet. Good luck, Uglysticks are not real expensive, but are nice fishing poles for the price.

That is a pork fish. They are common from Florida on down to Brazil. Beautiful underwater.

Lamb1, that’s the beauty of the Hurricane boat, it looks like a pontoon boat, has access like a pontoon boat, but has a regular hull instead of pontoons. Hurricanes have many advantages that pontoon boats do not have, including the ability to put a large engine that allows you to plane. Hurricanes trailer much lower than pontoon boats and are quite easy to get off and on the trailer. I was looking for a pontoon boat when my boat mechanic called me and told me about the Hurricane; my wife and I looked at it and it was immediately purchased it. I did mention in an earlier post that they are a bit pricey, but well worth it. If we had purchased a pontoon boat, we’d be very happy though, they’re great boats.
