prefer flies or lures, but pinched nerve in my shoulder will dictate my efforts . . .

Not sure if it is mentioned in one of these responses, but fishing with flies -- especially barbless flies -- makes it so much easier to practice catch and release as opposed to bait fishing, where fish often swallow the hook . . . same basic principle applies to fishing with lures . . . often you can let a fish get off the line by itself with a loose line and never actually have to touch the fish . . . just a thought . ..

have you fished the area of hat creek that's reached by taking a dirt road a few miles before you reach hat creek resort, close to the lassen park turnoff ???
Heading back to Hat Creek in May . . . have been going there for a long time but primarily fish Hat Creek itself and not other water . . .
