Vac pack 100%. Something to consider is the chlorine that is in most water supplies. I don't know how much it would effect the taste, but could be a factor.

Definitely not a bluegill, perhaps a saltwater fish of some sort? If live bait is legal, put it on a hook and good luck!

Definitely not a bluegill. Ocean fish for sure.

That’s the same looking frog that jumped out of a flower pot my wife bought to plant. I’d never seen one before.
Hack 🇺🇸🍺🍺

That's a tree frog, look at the suction cups on his toes.

I guess that eliminates any notion of skinny-dipping in that reservoir!

The rest of the story:

Last Friday morning an incredible deep sea fish washed up on shore in Crystal Cove State Park’s Marine Protected Area (MPA). There are more than 200 species of angler fish worldwide and this particular fish is most likely the Pacific Football Fish. Only females possess a long stalk on the head with bioluminescent tips used as a lure to entice prey in the darkness of waters as deep as 3,000 feet! Their teeth, like pointed shards of glass, are transparent and their large mouth is capable of sucking up and swallowing prey the size of their own body. While females can reach lengths of 24 inches males only grow to be about an inch long and their sole purpose is to find a female and help her reproduce. Males latch onto the female with their teeth and become “sexual parasites,” eventually coalescing with the female until nothing is left of their form but their testes for reproduction. Wild! To see an actual angler fish intact is very rare and it is unknown how or why the fish ended up on the shore. Seeing this strange and fascinating fish is a testament to the diversity of marine life lurking below the water’s surface in California’s MPAs and as scientists continue to learn more about these deep sea creatures it’s important to reflect on how much is still to be learned from our wonderful ocean

Very interesting story, OBG. Weirder than weird.

Ditto on all points. That is a cool looking fish. We don't have anything like that in Upper Michigan!

Yea let's all kill everything that happens to upset our selfish pastime, like you I love to fish but look at it this way they also feed on big head carp overtaking our Midwest waters, perch come around and disappear for a time but always come back ,let nature take it's course, I have bad days on the water too but I can't blame any predatory birds , look at it this way if perch would hang out just for fisherman we would fish them to extinction?

I call that the dumb bear syndrome. The bears love the cherries, so they break down all the branches to get at them. After that the trees no longer produce fruit and they die. People are a lot like dumb bears.

Amen. We ARE the hands of God on earth, while at the same time we are IN God's hands.
Thanks again Plumbob, for posting these words of wisdom. It gives me hope and comfort knowing there is light in the darkness, and others believe as I believe. God bless you all...and your Mothers.

Sorry Mathteacher, you might have to use a slide rule on that one. Doesn't seem to be many people who fish that area, or at least they don't want to talk about it. I can tell you this, the river that separates Superior Wisconsin from Duluth is a great spot for walleye. They normally hit near the bottom and mostly on jigs with either a twister (or other rubber), or minnows...or both. Suggest if you are going to venture into Lake Superior, you have a very sea-worthy vessel equipped with proper navigational equipment (GPS, depth/fish finder), radar if you go out in fog or darkness.

California is SO top heavy with government and entitled groups. More govt., more stories like this. Vote Republican.

Yeah, buddy! It's not just California. I would think Feds would have something better to do than to try pinning some silly charges on someone who obviously didn't poach anything, but then look what they just did to Rudy for being a Republican.
Throwing yourself at the feet of the Chief and begging forgiveness seems like a plausible idea. Not knowing you were trespassing may be enough for them to have mercy on you. In my experience, I have found most Native Americans to be thoughtful people. If they say you weren't trespassing or they don't want to press charges, it's over.
