My story is as an Asst. Scoutmaster on a weekend camping trip to the Cape in 1975. Mikey was a special needs Boy Scout that didn't have many friends in the Troop. I set him out fishing on the pond. He had a half gone rubber worm on his line, I said I could set him up with a better lure!! He wanted to fish with that worm!! BOOM!! he caught a 4 lb Bass!!
He was the talk of the camp!!! All the Scouts wanted to know his fishing tactics!! From shunned to fishing hero!! I'll always remember that day!! I know he will always remember it too. Great Catch Mikey wherever you are!!

Years ago on a WBZ Talk Radio Show on UFO's. He was taking calls!! This women called in and said she saw a UFO,
the host was leading her along to get more bang for the Buck!! asked her to describe the UFO! She said it was cigar shaped and flew by at supersonic speed!!! He ??? her for several minutes joking about it on the air to make her look like a Looney Toon!!! Finally he said really how do you know it was a UFO??
She said "UFO" was written right on the side of it!!
All he could say was you got me LADY!!

I got it a auction in NH years ago and restored it an sold it 20 years ago.

Great stories of roll top desks!! Reminds me of a story a friend told me many years ago. He was at a yard sale and saw a nice roll top desk with a cheap price on it!! He being a skinflint thought he might be able to talk him down a little bit so he started pulling drawers while talking to him about about maybe accepting a lower price?? Well he pulled out that secret draw and a bunch of old silver dollars appeared. The owner closed the draw and said Sorry!!!! it's Not For Sale!! Sometimes being a cheapskate can bit you in the butt!!

Another story going out to Georges Banks!! It was 40 years ago not 25 as I mentioned in my last post!! Years fly by!!
That morning on the Capt. John!! A drunk says I got one!! The deckhand checks his pole and says you got the bottom!! The drunk says leave me alone I got a big one!!! He was throwing up and reeling at the same time!! Everyone moves away from him!! Let him fight the bottom as it is over 250 feet down!! About 45 minutes later he says there it is!! Out of the deep came a huge Halibut to the surface!! He tryed to pull in up into the boat by himself!!!! Out came the hook!!! as it flipped to go back to the deep his white side appeared as he went down, it was as big as a bathtub!!! That's just what it looked like!! We gave the drunk beers and patted him on the shoulder!! Saying Sorry!!

All good replies!! 25 years ago the wife and I took a few overnight trips to Cashes Ledge off the Georges Banks on the Capt. John out of Plymouth Ma 100 ft. boat 50 fisherman allowed on a party boat thats built for a 100. Took the seasick pills! Left at 11pm watched them party all night!! When we reached the Ledge at 6am only about half were fit too fish!! Plenty of room!!! One trip I won the pool with a 54lb Cod!! The wife came in 2nd with a 50 pounder!! ended up with 85 lbs of cod haddock pollack fillets. Donated most to the Nursing Home where the wife was a nurse!!! Gov Closed it down a couple of years later!!! Have other stories about those trips!! Maybe another time!!!

Love your story!! Reminded me of a story an old friend told me 50 years ago. He was in his blind and fired at a duck, missed!! Cursed a little!!It was getting near dusk so he reached in his pocket took out another shell loaded the shotgun and hoped he would get another chance before dark! Another duck flew by. he took carefull aim and CLICK
He opened the breech and realized a roll of Lifesavers is the same size as a 12GA shell!!

Years ago a friend and I were building a house, I was above him on the staging when I dropped my saw, it cut off his ear!! The EMT's came and said if I found his ear and put it on ice, the doctors might be able to reattach it?? I found it down below and rushed it to the Hospital. He was just going into the operating room, I ran up and showed him and said I got your ear!!! He say's it's not my ear!! My ear had a pencil on it!!!

Never knew the name of that salamander. Had one in the basement window well of our house in Hingham 40 years ago. Never seen one again.
P.S. If I knew it liked Beer I would have left one in the window well!!

Got a Gabby Hayes Fishing rod and reel combo for Xmas, Being up before my Ma & Pa 5 am I decided to go fishing in Dorchester Bay!!! Down the street from our house!! Didn't catch anything No Bait!! When I got back home Police were waiting as parents were in a panic!!
