Hey ButchS, I use slip bobbers a lot ice fishing and open water. yeah slip bobber knots will slide on the braid. only downside to braids sometimes. I was just thinking have you tried those wire bobber stops. I got some this week but haven't used them. I wonder how they will hold braid? if they will hold I would make a 3' leader of mono tied to a swivel and then ^^Thill
bobber, then bead and then that wire bobber stop... just thinking out loud... you could also add split shot to your mono if needed and when reeling in just leave about 4' so your not putting the bobber right on your rod eye etc... till also make bobbers with some weight already added to the bobber. the bobbers with the brass eyelet on top work nice but make sure you add a bead so the knot doesn't get stuck in the bobber or something else. talking from experience. ha ha. good luck!

I did use Green/black crankbait instead of the spinner I was casting to shore

NICE stripers! Fun to fight! First time I caught some that size I was bass fishing and in the back of the boat. well the boat positioned so that I couldn't get a cast to shore for LMB so I turned and cast toward deeper water. got two about 18"-20" my partners jaw dropped. he didn't box me out on accident anymore. keep up the good work!

On the lake I used to live on muskie could be found in weed beds usually above the weeds or sitting in an outboard "cut" in the weeds. I would go out on a sunny day with a pair of polarized sunglasses and a large jointed minnow. biggest fish I caught this way was a 40" that pulled the boat around for 20 minutes before she came to the net. when you can't see them like that use a Large sucker minnow under a bobber. large sucker between 10"-20". or Shiners work well too just hard to keep alive...check your state laws about baits.

Hi Crappieback you should be able to locate trout on streams in just about anyplace. Look for the deeper holes and fast moving water. Just be careful some streams you can only fish with non live bait. I like to fish trout with worms!!!

thanks ButchS!!! Yeah I've been looking at the DNR stream finder and printed out some hard copies cause it's a minefield of regulations. some are catch and release some are non-live bait. I miss fishing as a youth. :-) chasing everything with fins in the summer. keep a limit of whatever then cast lures the rest of the day for bass. good luck

Hey B! nice catches! can I ask what river or stream they were from? Got my trout stamp for the first time in like 20 years. I am normally a walleye and panfish chaser but I've had a Fly rod for awhile to fish for sunnies on calm/slow days on the lake. just wondering where to go. I live south of the metro but not far enough east to be in trout country. so it's gonna be a drive for me. rather not waste a lot of gas (@ +,- $2.72/gal). the other day. ;[. any little help would be appreciated and I am new to this site. Tite lines!🦗🪳🐟😜

Getting more youth interested and off of video games but they need to take a safety class like Gun safety and teach them about the unwritten rules of fish. pick up your trash. be respectful of others. Don't overfishing an area. Eat the medium fish and release some of the big ones to make more big ones. People get stupid and things are always changing but doing a little bit good everytime your out makes thing better for everyone. so I'm saying more "quality " fisherman wouldn't be a bad thing but respect the sport.
