Dude, weren't you in the good the bad and the ugly? You're just about a dead ringer for Eli Wallach.

Went back to Folsom couple days ago and did pretty good. Used deep diving crank baits and hooked four and landed two. If you go, look for bait fish in up to 25ft water. Pretty exciting early morning as well with topwater action. Lots of jumpers around the boat, although I didn’t get any takers. I’ll be heading to New Hogan in the next couple days and will let you all know how things went. Good luck out there!

CM.... nice smallie. Looks like it inhaled your deep diver. Folsom has always been a good fishery. Can you still launch a boat?

Yes but only at Brown’s Ravine At the Hobie ramp. People are getting stuck at the Granite Bay ramp.

Hello friends, I was fishing Folsom today and was lucky enough to score this nice smallie on a deep diver In about 18ft of water. Thought the lake was going to be a bust because of the low levels but actually wasn’t too bad. I saw lots of fish and will probably try again if it cools down in the next week or so. Good luck out there!

I've never written anything on the "Fishing Stage" before, but follow it regularly.....I live in Redding (CA)---Pretty much grew up here, but have been 'around'....5 years in Alaska---talk about some amazing fishin' !!!! I was a helicopter mechanic and spent lots of time in the 'bush', where you couldn't get there any other way than helicopter.....Had some great times....but, back to California....I'm 73, retired electrical contractor...I mainly fish Shasta Lake these days with on old high school buddy....We do what I call "old man fishin'"---troll the perimeter of the lake using mostly crank baits....winter's are usually real slow due to the cold weather and the fish "suspending"....spring and summer pick up considerably as the water temp. increases....We went out yesterday and hooked 11, (bass) -- the week before, 19.....Shasta's a big, beautiful lake with lots of fish----bass, trout, crappie, cats, even sturgeon....lots of tourists, so there are alot of folks out there "playin'"..... the bass fishin' is fantastic and if you live in the area, you should definitely check it out..... The Sacramento River runs thru Redding too and altho I don't fish it much, it's an incredible river for trout, steelhead and salmon....striped bass too...... I also lived in Trinity County for many years too (Next one over from Shasta Co. --Redding--)----I lived right on the Trinity River for years and that's another amazing river for steelhead, salmon and big brown trout.... Over-all, the "North State" is full of fishin' spots.......... Good luck to all of you out there and tight lines !!!!
I've never written anything on the "Fishing S... (show quote)

Bk welcome and thanks for posting info on Shasta! I’ve been wanting to go out there and give it a shot and after your post I’m thinking I might head up there soon thanks again for your input!

Pretty sure those are pike/minnows, not shad.

Did I say it was a shad? Sorry, meant to say a sucker fish I’m sure. I was trying to catch shad, but caught those fish instead! Never did get a shad this year. Sorry for the mix up.

Hi Caliman! I live in Roseville ,Ca. and noticed your big salmon. I love salmon and Steelhead fishing and fish a lot in Northern Ca. and southern Or.(Klamath, .Smith, Rogue, Chetco Umpqua, etc.) as well as in the Sacto., Feather and American rivers. I have a 22ft.Bolton jet that my son runs now. Love fishing!

I lost a wonderful fishing partner last year and was wondering if you may want to get together for some fishing this fall?!
Kyle Mckinsey

Hey Kyle, sounds like a plan! Keep in touch for sure. Love salmon fishin. Caught that one in Corning a few years ago! Pm me if you like, might not answer right away but I check in often during the week.

Vid was taken early morning just east of sunrise. Tried for two hours to catch one of them never did get one but I did manage to catch a sucker fish. And then I proceed to catch the same sucker fish the next two days at the same spot. Shad aren’t there anymore. There was one guy though that managed to catch five or six nice ones and I couldn’t quite make out what it was he was using for bait. He said he’d been fishing there for shad for 30 years. I believed him because he was the only one catching em! The flows are slow, and the water is low on the American. I sure hope we get some rain next season because if we don’t, in my opinion, things are gonna look real bad. Taking a break from fishing for a little bit well my boat gets worked on. Good luck out there!

Fished the American this morning. I tried for two hours to catch one of these but never could get one! Shad are here. Saw quite a few that were over 5 lbs.

So I decided to stay local yesterday and fished the sacramento. Trolled with yozuri minnows and BAM! I managed to hook a fish! A very small fish but it was my first in the boat so I was thrilled.

Cool videos but not much information. I was hoping to get some up-to-date information for the trip tomorrow. But thanks anyways I do appreciate it. Just realized I think I should’ve hit “quote reply”.

Hello everybody I’m going out to the Delta again tomorrow with my neighbor. I’ve been out in the delta seven or eight times since I got my boat last July. I’ve landed exactly zero Fish. I have troll for stripers mostly in and around the Rio Vista area. Any help would be appreciated. In the past I’ve launched from Sandy Cove. And once from Wimpys. I’d really like to catch a fish this time. Any suggestions as to location even if it’s not the Delta would be greatly appreciated. As far as the bait I’ve been using mostly Yozuri crystal minnows. I’ve tried an atlas rig a couple of times as well.
