Have to add my 2 cents. I have PFD's, inflatable and ski vest type on the boat, bought 2 new inflatables, they are on the back porch, boat is in storage for now. I never wear any of them! Is that dumb or what. I will also resolve to not go out in the boat without wearing my PFD, any one as long as I ware it. Just plain dumb not to, I'm 78 years old and never was a very good swimmer, worse now, so wearing one from now on! Thanks for posting, sorry for the loss, but sound advice for sure.

Got home last night from the daughters house for Christmas.
Had a truly wonderful time and we even went to the new Avatar movie yesterday. Was really good.
Then we just got a call from her today that she tested positive for covid.
Sue and I feel fine but we're gonna quarantine for several days to make sure.
Hopefully we'll dodge another bullet this time too.

Hey Steve, sorry to hear about your daughter, prayers for you all, this season seems to be a little more active. Dodged the bullet so far, just a bad head cold. Tight lines buddy.

My Sister has some for surf perch fishing in Oregon that look a lot like a sputnick, 4 wires about 4" long in a large array around the no roll sinker, she says they work really well for holding in current. She gets them at some bait shop over near Newport, Oregon. Tight lines.

Great looking Steer there. Thanks for sharing. When I was younger (much younger) my dad would give me the neck of the steer to make jerkey, would take me and my cousin about 4 hours to get it all cut off the bones and marinating. Brings back good memories of a life long past. You will enjoy a lot of great meals with that one.

All I can say is Wow! I have seen stripers feeding that way twice here in California, once in San Francisco Bay near Redwood City, and once in Tomales Bay near Nicks Cove. So impressive, never seen footage like that though, California water not that clear and I did not have a drone. Wonderful video, thank you for sharing.

Good catchin you two, a bit too cold for this old bird. Thanks for sharing, I like the part about havin bait for the next crabbin adventure. I want to ask where you and Denny get those crab traps, have not seen them in the stores around here in Petaluma, I like the way they look and stack etc. Time to get rid of the big ole 60lbers, cant pull them by hand anymore. Glad you two got to enjoy a day out!

Nook, take a look at the 18' Klamath, my wife bought me the walk thru one, deep vee Aluminum, all welded, with a 50 main and 9.8kicker. Great boat, had an 18' center console before that, also great boat for the areas you will be fishing. You can find some great deals on used ones from time to time. Good luck and tight lines buddy!

Headed out to the Napa tomorrow with Ben to see if we can find any that wanna play. Gonna be a chilly start, mid to upper 30s maybe but suppose to warm up to near 60* bout noon.
I'll try to get a few pics of Ben with some fish while we're out on the water and of course the pics of what we keep if we're lucky.
It's definitely winter time fishin now. Waters bout 56* now so it's kinda slow.

We fished Saturday and Sunday. We caught 15 fish on Sat and 10 on Sunday. The second fish in the boat
was the biggest one was a 15.7 lbs and my son dropped the scale in the lake so we only got to way one
fish but the smallest one was probably 6 lbs. I have been fishing for trout for probably 50 years and I
have never come close to the size of these fish and it was a great trip for me and my boys!!!!

Wow, those are beautiful trout, thanks for sharing, drooling by the way!

Soooo, I get to reenter this since my fumble fingers killed a great story while trying to attach pictures
Chilly and foggy on the river this morning at 0700.
All of the "usual locations" showed fish but not even one bite. Different speeds, lures, depths, no luck. So we headed off looking for fish that were interested. Ben caught what looked like a keeper, but somebody on the boat (hey, not pointing any fingers at Ben's fishing partner) got too excited and knocked the fish off with inept net handling. Ben showed a lot of patience explaining how to properly deploy the net during retrieval.
Kept seeing a lot of fish, and did end up with 15 caught, 3 keepers, but only kept the 2 biggest. We even had 2 sets of doubles, but they were undersized. Still fun to catch!
27 1/2 inches 6 lb 6 oz.. .my personal best, and a solid 19 incher at 2 lb 3 oz.
Great day on the water, and having Ben put on his fish hunter hat made this a great trip.
Most of the following pics are of undersized fish, but fish pictures are still pictures of fish and most folks keep reminding posters to show pictures. Guess that means they want to see fish pictures.
Thanks again for a fun day Ben
