You're about a month early for most bream. Crappie may be trying to bed but the next ones will be your shell cracker on the next full moon.
Had two manatee to circle my boat that way last year.
My friend I do not fish salt water but as much rain as we've had and all the, run off, I can't believe it would be that great right now. But I could be completely wrong. Do like we do with our bass fishing go try it. Some days are pretty good. Some days not so good. Still beats sitting at the house.
Hi Booger. What part of Al. is Mentone in? Any good lakes or rivers around there?
Dave they are rebuilding the bridge across the lake, fish the bridge all you can, if you can get under it the creek channel runs down the east side of the lake, stay in the channel. Good luck.
Lot of grass and I mean a lot. This time of year I'd try weightless worms, swim baits and frogs. Fish early and late.
Guys you do not have to remove the bones. You just take the filet and gash it about every 1/4 inch. when you fry them it cooks the bones completely out. Just scale, filet, cut out the rib cage and gash. Simple.
Anyone have anything on Lay Lake or Lake Mitchell? Going up there Monday and spend a couple of days. I hope they're pulling up to start bedding. We'll know Monday I guess.
Well, did you catch any mullet? I'm going bass fishing in the morning, but with all this water, I doubt we'll do anything. Still beats sitting at the house. My wife is down in your area. They had a celebration of life for her sister yesterday. I was supposed to have been in south Alabama fishing, but we got rained out. We're going up to north Ala. next week. We hope. This weather has been something else. Take care Bill
Corky, I don't text. I've been shown how a dozen times but before I need to text, I've forgotten how. That's what old age will do for you. Mostly at 73 y.o. I just don't care. By the way a couple of emails back that was my email, so when you get home, you can keep me informed of the big ones you catch. Take care, Bill
No wonder I didn't know where you were at. I thought you were up here in the north end of the state. I don't know how I got that idea. Well, I feel stupid. Anyway, if you get into mullet fishing, you'll like it I bet. They can damn sure fight. Well enjoy the time you have down here and maybe you can come back. There's a lot of fishing you can do in that area. Later Bill
Corky not trying to seem stupid but where is Hudson?
Bill, Billy, William, I answer to about anything. Corky that is a darn good silver. They don't get near as big as the blacks. But they do come in sooner in the spring. That's why I ask if it was a silver. Well keep up the good work and watch for this weather. I understand there is a tornado between you and me headed in this direction. So, I'm going to duck and cover for a while. Billy
Corky was it a black or silver mullet? Any way that's a nice mullet. Are you baiting them up? That's how you get a bunch of them in an area. We always used Rex dog food or cowboy range pellets. What ever will sink and they can eat will work. Soured corn works real well also garlic on any of it seems to help. Any way have fun and let me know how you do. bsroberts@mchsi.com
Corky what we do is snatch mullet with treble hooks. You bait up a hole and when the mullet come in you snatch them with the hooks. Usually, we use two 3/0 hooks about ten inches apart and when the fish nibbles at your bait or bare hooks you snatch. If you want to use small hooks and bait the old timers used okra seed or wigglers. Another way to catch them on small hooks is to use a Sabiki rig. This is several small baits on a single line Sold at Wal-Mart. Hope this helps in some way. By the way use at least a 20 lb. test line because if you use less you are going to lose a lot of fish.
