Thanks for your welcome. I fish Kansas,Missouri Oklahoma and Texas. Exclusively for Bucket mouths, spots and small jaws. I use a boat and bait casting reels most of the time. I have never been on a forum before but, some of my buddies say I’m full of useless information

A bait casting reel is a tool that you you want too have in your box but, you need to be proficient at using it. Otherwise you will go to what you have confidence in and what has worked for you in the past. Once you get it, bass fishing anyway you will throw it often and enjoy not having to flip the bail. I use both on my quest for Bucketmouths. .....OVER......

Motor will tilt down but won’t go up could be as easy as adding fluid.

Unless you usually spend most of the time trying to cast near to or under overhanging stuff or something similar, you should stick with spinning reels— much, much easier to use.

As relates to precise casting with a spinning reel in open water, it is a matter of practice and learning to do so; also using the proper spinning rod with sufficient ability to place the lure where you want it to go.

Please don’t pick one over the other they both have their place. Learn to become proficient at both and you will know which one to use at any given time. I keep both at the ready on the deck of my boat and would not want to be without either on my search for largemouths. Don’t give up on baitcasting once you get it you will have it in your hand a lot.
Keep throwing bait.
