My grandson is asking for a shimano slx dc for Christmas. The reel will be used mostly in saltwater he is 11 and is anxious to try casting with this reel and not having to deal with birds nest. Anyone using this reel in saltwater and how does it hold up.

My grandson went tuna fishing with his uncle Joe no tuna but they boated a fine mako shark. This boy loves to fish freshwater or salt he’s always ready to go.

Recently while fishing with my grandson he lost the tension knob on my accurist pt reel. I contacted quantum
(Zebco) and they advised me that the part was out of stock but if i returned the reel they would send me a new one free of charge. I sent them the reel five days ago and today I received a brand new reel. In todays world that is great customer service and treatment of a customer. Hats off to them from a grateful grandfather.

I used u40 last spring on a bunch of cork handles worked great and stood up. I cleaned the handles with a magic eraser then did one coat of u40 handles look great and stayed lean good luck.

New member my name is Larry i fish a 27’ shamrock mackinaw in the great South Bay in the vicinity of Jones inlet. Favorite fish are fluke and striped bass. I am retired and fish every chance i get.
