Hit Lake Skinner early today and was on the water around 6am. Only a couple of small bites in the morning, so decided to go cruising to parts the lake that I have spent very little time at. Tried my normal stuff to no avail, so had my old rig lying there with a white fluke on it (usually keep for when stripers pop up). Said what the heck and tossed it out and it got slammed immediately. Made a couple of nice runs and of course took me into the weeds. Maneuverd around to where I got it straight up and down. Was going to try that strumming meathod that someone mentioned in another post. Grabbed the line and freed it from the weeds and hand lined it to the boat, reached down and grabbed it and put it in the boat. Fun experiencce

Just a note. The bear is back and threatened some people at the BBQ. It isn’t looking good for the bear.

I usually don’t waste the energy taking pictures of fish that aren’t worthy of having a picture taken.
Bluegill 10 or 11 inches yea maybe I’d take a pic

Maybe picture worthy?? 10 or 11 inches is about the top of the line in any state. Let me guess in Ohio you guys get the good old 14 inchers?

Best wishes again for your son and everyone else involved, be it family or friends or residents or just people who want to eradicate scum. I hope your boy gets to be standing on some mountain top celebrating with all the other fighters that put an end to this. They are much appreciated!!

Let me see, I would like to have bear skins cover all of my den, wall to wall. How many square feet does one average bear skin cover? If the den was 18 x 24 that would equL 432 SQ FT. Just sayin...RJS

I hear everything is bigger in Texas, probably only one bear skin, if killed in Texas😂😂 not true if your talking about Whitetails and Walleye or probably even bear?

My son is a Fireman he is a engineer and their unit just got called to go to the big Fire in Northern California. He works for Monterey Park. They are leaving today and will be gone for 2to3 weeks.
Just asking for some prayers for his unit. There and back.
Thank you
Andy

Prayers for him and all of the firefighters out there. Also for every resident out there hopefully things turn around quickly. Just my two cents but I read a story earlier about a arsonist having intentionally set fires near the area recently, essentially fighting the firefighters and residents. If true this guy needs to be tossed into it just before they get it put out.

I am constantly amazed by the things people do. This is a photo I took yesterday at Lake of the Woods in Ontario. Another person and I chased this bear away. Never leave coolers and food for the bears to get into. It is usually a death sentence for the bear and it is not the bear’s fault!

The classic everything revolves around me human entitlement.. hopefully people can get to a place where we recognize that this rock is a place for every being and be able to see the impact that we have on other creatures whose grounds we have encroached on? I’m sure they got along just fine before we came around. Do your part to be a good steward to the land and it’s resources were not the only ones here.

Pics please Spirit!! Not many companies so kind like that anymore. The hand written note says a lot about them to me, if I were a fly fisherman I would check them out but I think I’ll pass that along to a couple buddies.

Fly I was just wondering how often you fish out of a boat? Because most trout streams in our neck of the woods have no launches or even enough water for that matter. If you would cut a line over catching a decent fish or even if the fish is subpar to avoid stink in your boat you got me wondering why??

Fishing is still fun too doesn’t have to be a trout🤷‍♂️

Fishyaker: I hope you created a narrative to accompany the slides, otherwise in a short period of time, a lot of the details will be forgotten.
May I suggest you go through and either record, or write a brief narrative of what is happening at that time, and who the participants are. Otherwise it is like a shoe box of photos with no idea who the participants are! What you've done is a great start, but you need to supply the stories in narrative with your CD's! Just Sayin...RJS

Great idea RJS would be nice for grandkids and on to know the story and the who done it. I enjoy the wisdom you share and perspective. And the hard truth that without some kind of way to “jot” these things down they get hard to remember.

From my experiences any poaching charge requires evidence. Without at least pictures of what you have "poached" I believe the poaching charge will get dropped. Usually fishing without a catch would be specific charges such as closed area, out of season etc. I would find out what the specific penalties are for the charges, and then weigh that out against the cost of a lawyer. If you really do not want this on your record I would get a lawyer.
I do know that trespassing charges cannot be brought if the owner of the property did not post "no trespassing" signs. Same thing might apply to this.

Ground in Iowa does not have to be posted in order for you to get a trespassing charge it’s on the angler/hunter etc. to know where you are and if the ground is open to the public.

Glad you and Paul made it back safe, then, Steve! And glad you fished from your boat and not kayaks. I avoid kayak fishing on days where wind is predicted to be 10mph and stronger.
I did ride my bike in that wind yesterday and it was not fun! I started riding a Charity Bicycle Event, starting on April 1st for Stop Soldier Suicide. I've been trying to average 10 miles each day. So far, so good!!!

Good on you I know you will crush those miles.. what a great cause when you get done with that ride you’ll have to treat yourself to some relaxation with a rod in hand🇺🇸

Took today off Wednesday March 17 2021, Hiked further today then ever, made it to a spot that some people call a island because when the water is up higher it looks like a island, it payed off and I will be hiking back there more often, with the water being so low I can actually make it over there pretty easily, caught 4 large Mouth Bass! All caught using a senko with a split shot right above the hook, can’t wait to get back up there! What a fun day..

Better hope boss man doesn’t get on the stage lol
