If PETA has its way, there will no longer be a Ground Hog's Day. I just read that they feel it's mistreatment of the shy ground hogs.

Doug,
Actually most if not all portable generators have a "floating neutral", it's no big thing. It simply means that the neutral and ground, is NOT bonded inside the generator itself.

NEC requires that there is only one ground on a system, this avoids "ground loop" currents. In the old days, you would/could install a ground rod in multiple locations, say at every out building or sub-box, no more. That can set up for stray currents, which can lead to potentially serious situations.

IF you have a piece of equipment that will not run, without a bonded neutral (on one of our furnaces, for example, the electronics require it), there is a cheap or easy to make device called a "grounding plug". It's simply a cord plug end, in which the ground and neutral posts are jumped together. You plug it into one of the generator outlets and it ties them together.

As far as the Champion brand, I have a 2,000 watt unit that runs perfectly, I just had to make the grounding plug, to run one furnace. Same as I did with the its Honda predecessor.

I studied this very hard, when designing our Bus electrical system. We presently have about 1200 watts of solar, 800AH (at 24 volt) battery bank, a 4000 watt Magnum inverter and a 8000 watt Powertech diesel genset. We built the Bus to dry camp in the desert. Overall it worked out very well, for the years that we were able to Snowbird.

I have several customers that have the Harbor Freight Predator inverter units. I've heard nothing but good reports about their function and very little interference with electronics. I will how ever, advise to stay away from the Champion brand generator commonly found at Lowes. I've seen several electronics issues with these units due to the fact that several models use a floating neutral generator head (read: cheap trash). Finicky electronics will typically throw fault codes of reversed polarity, missing neutral, grounding issues, etc..

What you are describing are both generators, one generates AC, the frequency is determined by the number of poles in the generator and the RPM of the engine. The most common run at 3600 RPM and can be quite noisy. Depending upon the setup, the frequency can be rather loose or very stable.
The other style actually generates DC, then is converted to AC by the inverter section. The frequency is determined by the quality of the inverter and most are quite accurate. The RPM is determined by the load. These units are usually much quieter, especially when running on ECO (economy) mode, which allows the engine to slow down to idle when the load allows.
Some equipment is very frequency sensitive, especially anything with electronics, others are relatively unaffected.
Induction motors usually work OK, but their RPM is determined by the frequency of the supplied power. I have no understanding of C pap machines, so no input on that.
On our Bus, we have both, a gen-set (8000 watt diesel) and a true inverter system (4000 watt true sine), that provides AC, from our battery bank, which can be charged from solar, gen-set or the coach engine, as we drive.Hence my understanding of the subject. I researched and studied the daylights out of it, when designing and building the coach.

Please read the ENTIRE Second Amendment slowly and carefully, where does it specify "law abiding"?
That was all added later, I believe in the GCA68.
Back when the Constitution was written, if you committed a crime and were convicted, you SERVED your sentence, not a plea bargain or thrown out on supposed technicalities.
True, many FELONS (specifically crimes of violence) should not and can not LEGALLY own firearms, but do you really think that all of the crime committed with firearms, are effected by any and all of the gun laws now written or that ever will be written?

If you’re NOT a law abiding citizen you don’t have the right to bear arms. No ifs ands or buts… NONE.

The Correctional Officers carry tasers, no firearms are permitted, even by any Law Enforcement Officers. There are weapons check lockers, outside each entrance. There is also vests, shields and other protective gear available as needed.

At the old jail (the one that I work in, is only about 2 years old, fairly stat of the art), they did have a few problems with shanks and other impact weapons, but nothing here that I know of.

smitty,
Except, either all of the guns that I've ever owned, have been defective, or there is no such thing as GUN violence. Actually, it IS the latter of those.

There is VIOLENCE, not performed by any inanimate object, but by a HUMAN. Blaming it on the inanimate objects, being guns, cars, knives, hammers, etc., is camouf**ging and avoiding the true issue.

I work in a Jail, quite a few of our inmates, have been in the system (ours', federal, other states and counties) multiple times. Many or given probation, which they quickly violate, other plead bargain or get out early, only to come see us again.

The "system" actually uses the crimes and crime statistics, to control the rest of us, because guess who abides by the laws, a BIG clue, NOT THE CRIMINALS!

hueey,
They know exactly how to handle the border crisis, first STOP the hemorrhage (like the last administration did, before all of the reversals), then start the systematic removal of the I******S that you can locate, swiftly and surely.

The border crisis is really a joke on the current admin. They don’t know how to handle it or just don’t care. Probably the latter of the 2.
Sad to say but the joke is destroying our current state of affairs.

Background Check is great. Some people shouldn’t have them. Actually some can’t v**e either. Both are fine with me.

Except with mail in v****g (like the no longer legal, mail order firearms buying), you have not control over who is v****g. V****g in person and requiring a photo ID, as IS required for firearms purchases (yes, I know that there is private buying and sell going on), HELPS eliminate the unauthorized v****g.

With no names, needing to be mentioned, there are either some incredibly blind and stupid people here or some incredibly talented TROLLS!

It's quite humorous, but gets boring after a while, you know longer need to read the names, the posts are self signing.

Regarding the "charge i**********n disqualification to be an officer of the state":

The Supreme Court on “Officer of the United States” as used in the Constitution

United States v. Smith, 124 U.S. 525 (1888) (Field, J.):

“An officer of the United States can only be appointed by the president, by and with the advice and consent of the senate, or by a court of law, or the head of a department. A person in the service of the government who does not derive his position from one of these sources is not an officer of the United States in the sense of the constitution. This subject was considered and determined in U.S. v. Germaine, 99 U.S. 508 [(1878)], and in the recent case of U.S. v. Mouat, 124 U.S. --, ante, 505 [(1888)]. What we have here said is but a repetition of what was there authoritatively declared.”

Id. at 532 (emphasis added).

I suggest that this authoritative statement goes far to establish that the President of the United States is not an “officer of the United States.” And so Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, which is part of the Constitution, and which uses “officer of the United States”-language, does not extend to the presidency.

Some were great, some less than, some MUCH less than, plus a few that I've never even heard of.
Some beautiful voices and faces, some funny and some that we lost way too soon.
Karen Carpenter and Jim Croce are two that come to mind.

Read up on the legal qualifications for the "job" that Jack Smith is supposed to be doing, his is NOT qualified for that position.

ABSOLUTELY Larry. The higher the frequency, the longer the range, I believe.

No Sir, that's backwards, the higher the frequency (shorter wavelength) the shorter the range.
That's why HF (high frequency) 40, 80 and 160 meter wave lengths are used for long range, worldwide communications, whereas UHF & VHF, 2 meter, 70CM etc. are used for HT and repeater operations.
