Definitely an osprey. They very typically carry the fish in line with their body / line of flight, sreamlined. Eagles carry fish crosswise.
Diamond jigs, kastmasters, large silver spoons, probably anything white with or without red. I tie squid flies and caught them on that. My brothers and I have caught snapper blues (juveniles) on smaller 1-1/2” or so spoons. Great fun, great action, terrific fighters no matter what size. And, though strong tasting, good table fare, loaded with omega fatty acids and good for you.

Trolling for landlocked salmon on Grand Lake in northern Maine. At the end of the line was a Grey Ghost about 2” long which was savagely attacked by a red eyed smallmouth maybe 3” long. I was impressed. Put up quite a stink for its size.
Partook in a company fishing trip to northern Minnesota (Lake Kabetogama, I believe) when I lived there 20 some years ago. Trolling a Rapala, felt a pull begin to load on my rod tip which for maybe 5 seconds kept increasing, then sudden release. I reeled in to see if maybe I collected a salad, but, no. I hooked a leach.
