Nice looking bass guys!!
I fished Lake Norman from 1970 to 2010 with the last 25 years fishing in my boat. I remember those 95 degree days being soaked with sweat cause I am fishing in full sun. I'm fan casting a deep dive tennesee shad rebel across the drop-offs around mid lake humps. When I couldn't take the heat no longer I'd pull up in the back of a Creek and dive in. I would swim down at least 10 feet and stay there as long as I could to enjoy that cold water. In June and July the surface water was hot as bath water but a few feet down felt like paradise. I remember thinking wow, these fish have got it made!!! But anyway, I'm glad to see some bigger bass being caught by some old farts about my age while fishing on good ole Lake Norman NC.
Nice looking bass guys!! br I fished Lake Norman f... (show quote)

Yep, that’s us! Old guys enjoying LKN, fishing, sunshine, warm temperatures and cold lake temperatures and of course cold silver bullets. That seems to be the strike zone for much of the year, 10’-12’ down. Tight Lines!

You can definitely troll or drift and catch some nice fish in those waters. Since the artificial reefs are made from large debris, you will typically locate the fish on or near the debris, your rigg will get tangled up in the debris and you will drift off the reef where you marked the fish, very frustrating to finally locate and start catching fish and drift off them…. If the seas are too rough off shore you want to be able to fish those jetties, especially the SC side, the fish travel along them especially in Sept and Oct when the Bull Reds come in, jetties absolutely require a spot lock trolling motor.

Well it depends, did you get your boat with or without a trolling motor and if so… did you rig your boat with… is it one of the GPS with spotlock or a standard trolling motor?

I'm a recent implant from MA. I bought a 27CC I keep in the ICW 15-20 minutes from the inlet. Looking for fishing advice. Black/Red Drum, Cobia, Sea Bass are all on the wishlist. Specifically, I hope to learn methods, rigs, and locations from this forum. I have chartered, but we were 20+ miles out. Anyone willing to help an old guy get on some fish?
Dave L

Hey Dave I would venture out to the Little River Offshore Reef. It’s not too far out and holds a lot of fish, you don’t need to go out 20 miles, but you probably need to venture out a little further for Cobia.

Took the puppy to the beach this morning and let my fishing rod tag along. First bite was a Bluefish and the second was a Bonnet Head Shark. Ocean was flat and the dog is getting use to the water.

Nice Pixs, looks like a good day to be on the beach. What were you using for bait?

Duck y'all gotta nice mess of fish brother.

Gotta luv the Rebel lures.
I have a nice collection of them 👍🎣

Oh yeah! Do you remember when KMart did those Blue Light Specials… I was there in the fall sometime in the mid 80’s and they came over the intercom and announced 75% off all items in the Fishing Department… I grabbed a cart and emptied the shelves… Rappala Lures for $1.25 package of Hooks for 25 cents, it was crazy! I think I paid 50 cents for that Rebel Lure

Well, another sunny, beautiful day at Lake Norman North Carolina. The Fish were definitely on, Temperatures in mid 80s great day to be on the lake. It was so hot we had to take a break, jumped in the lake… whew, not sure what’s colder the lake or the Silver Bullets. We landed up landing all 8 fish and the lure of the day was a 40 year old Rebel Silver crankbait, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, we are in the South. I am gonna head over to Bass Pro at Concord Mills Mall this weekend to pick up a couple more. Tight Lines!

Like everyone else when I hook up the boat to get ready for a trip on the water I would like it to be as productive as possible. May is upon us and would like to ask what is the best type of fishing to do around the Pamlico sound and creeks in the months of May and June

thanks
Joe

Duck those spotted bass are so cool looking! Guess I’ve gotta travel south to get myself one of those rascals.

Yes, they are aggressive and fight more like smallmouth bass… and since we are in the south the lakes don’t get too cold they bite year round

NCDUCK great pictures, I owned a Townhouse @ Catspaw north end of lake between Windemere and State park I used to go out like that down toward the park andcatch some nice strippers off the points walking redfins and stick baits. those spotted bass looked fat and healthy. tight lines as i always enjoy your post.

Thank you, Stripers and Hybrids are harder to find than they used to be, it’s a big lake and me and Dan try to get on the lake as much as we can… work is always trying to mess us up.

Well after we got back from dinner with our wife’s, Dan got it in his head we should go fishing… “Dan, it’s 7:30, sunsets in 1/2 hour” and I didn’t bring any rods, baits, nothing. OK let’s go, what the heck, if you insist and won’t stop talking about going… 1st fish in less than 5 minutes, 2 more on way in. Got back to the dock at 8:15 PM Pixs of fish and beautiful Lake Norman North Carolina at sunset.
