Denny,I have no idea of your past, but with that being said my past would scare the best of all. I went to mental health counseling and with little resolved and black outs that nearly cost me my wife the facility recommended a course called EMDR to this day some nearly five years later I am yet to have a black out. It's definitely worth a try. Now I have a clearer view of everything I do. It didn't make the fish bight any better but it sure makes it more enjoyable. As for your parents divorce, I hope they can work things out, but if not there are government funded programs for that. In the last few states I've lived in Colorado, Washington, Nevada, Idaho and now Texas I can call 211 for any and all things legal to I cannot pay my electric or gas ect. I pray this works for you and you may find the help you need. God bless and good luck.

211.. I forgot that was a thing. I will try that now, thanks bud!

And as for my past, without fully diving in the deep end of things I'll just say I'm a disabled vet, followed by close to two decades of addictive behavior from opiate addiction. It took me down roads no man should go. Traumatic memories and such.. it's just a hard time of year, especially new years eve. Thank you for the advice and prayers..

Denny I've heard it said that God will never give you a burden that you cannot bear. As a man of faith perhaps you should keep that in mind.

I will second that. Also remember that prayer changes things. ANYTIME you’re not sure what to do, go back and read James 5:15-16.
....pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
This saved my marriage about three years ago.
Talk to your Dad and be an example of what God’s power and prayer has done for YOU. God can soften his heart as well.

Denny, I have been through a father, and 2 step fathers and the only advice is that there are two sides to the problem. One may be more at fault then the other but don't take sides the Lord will be the judge.

Protect your mom financially by helping her find a good lawyer and then step back and be there for both of them. Let the lawyers do what they are getting paid for. I would think it is going to be a 50 / 50 split of any assets. Assuming counseling is out from what I read on your post all you can do is wait it out, they are adults and a painful process it will be.

Denny - Just be there for your mom right now. That will mean more than you know. Don't necessarily take sides if you can avoid it but if your mom needs your support, that means more from you than anything. These situations are always tough. Be strong. You can handle this.

My dad passed in 1982 after more than 40 years of marriage to my mom. My mom remarried after several years to a nice Christian man who was really good to her at first, then he started treating her badly, she divorced him and shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with Alzheimers, so your dad may need to be evaluated by a doctor! I know this has to be hard on you! You'll definitely be in our prayers!!! Hope all works out!!

If your mother has no income the judge will probably make your dad pay for her attorney. Most property will probably be split between them. If your dad is drawing VA disability it is his, your mother gets none of it. She does need to be represented, go to another town to find an attorney.

Really rough night. Hope this test goes well. Fortunately, the clinic is a short drive from my house. I guess I'm still the only one awake. That's okay. You guys need your sleep to deal with your own stuff.

Morning g, the scan isn't the hard part its all the worrying over something you can not control is what sucks. Hang in there and start planning where your fishing after the test to take your mind off of waiting for the results.
Where are you located and what are you fishing for?

I"m in east TN. Just outside of Knoxville on the edge of the Smokies. Some of the best bass and crappie fishing in the country. Not the best time of year right now but plenty of lakes nearby in the spring. Btw, been to NC. Where is Belhaven?

Sounds nice. Thanks for the support. This site has renewed my faith in people to be there even though we don't know each other. Fishing is the common thread we all enjoy.

I just put you on the spread sheet also flyguy has a more in-depth sheet for helping other fishers. The folks on here are very helpful with fishing and some personal issues that usually are for support and insights because we all have had our issues over the years.

Then there is the bantering that can be hilarious at times and can run off topic in a heart beat. For the most part politics stays off of here which is a good thing. Religion has been narrowed down to those that believe and those that don't. Both views are respected and informative.

Good luck in your test today. Take your phone with you and play here on the stage while you are waiting.

Thanks. I don't have much use for politicians these days. No problem there. I do believe in a higher power. Not much of a orayer guy. If people believe it helps them, i won't dusmiss their feelings.
