I donβt think it was a question of why post in the first place but more just a comment on our sport being special enough for it not to matter what anybody thinks of it!!
Yes that's why I got a Maryland wood carved pike for the biggest one in 2001 catch at marshyhope plus sports afield pin for crappie 2-3/4 lbs.in 79 yes I think it is
All really good responses and 4 pages. I saw this and thought maybe 1 page, 2 tops. I guess the Gal that wrote this hit a nerve and may just need to take a fishing trip and experience some of the scenarios mentioned.
And they say you can believe it if it is on the internet.
I luv fishing at any level. Fished tournaments that wore me out. Get up at 3/4am drive 100+ miles ea way. Spend 8 hours casting n hoping to catch. Fight the wind the current n the wakes made by weekend craziest. You're tired. Nascar I won't argue that one. Those boys earn their money.
I luv baseball also but. Look at the money they make now. Figure out how much time during a game are they are burning calories. Pitchers every 5 days limited amount of pitches. Only bat every ninth time. Catcher earn their keep. I'll stick to fishing. Don't make any money but the satisfaction I get even without catching. Is worth a million to me. Cheaper than a shrink πππ£π£
According to I watched all last week with the elites at st Lawrence river it meets all 3 requirements they said it takes to be a sport getting on the boat with three different pros and watching them for 8 hours a day was very interesting
There are leagues and competitions, that makes it a sport in my view. For me, it's much more valuable, though, as an enjoyable pass time. My life during my working years was highly competitive, and that was plenty of that stuff for me. The beauty of nature and the soothing qualities of being in and around the water kept me somewhat sane. Making friends & spending time fishing with family are some of my most cherished memories.
I read all the comments, and like the variety of opinions. But really, in terms of the level of satisfaction gained by participating, does it matter in the least?
