Just invested in a fishing kayak. So when the arms get tired, my motor is at its limit. No math needed.

HAHAHA, good one Matt, hopefully you're not miles away from your launch when it happens.

If you're shopping used boats, there's a few things to remember. The hour meter could have been replaced, or disconnected for a period of time, so its not Gospel! An experienced eye will compare the visual condition to the alleged amount of hours on the meter. If they don't match up, you're being played.
The biggest benefit of having one on a new boat, is breaking in the new motor, and doing your maintenance services on time. All of these things are scheduled by X amount of hours.

I agree.
With the responses I got with actual numbers given, the average so far is 9,300 hrs.

That's the reason you paddle against the current at the beginning. That way when you're tired later you have the current workin WITH you goin back.
And if there's no current then you are just SOL for any help.

Saw, ripogenu's computations are hilarious as Bernoulli's principle is relative to fluid flow and static measurement and Fibonocci's is not a principle but a numerical sequence. This cat has a great sense of humor and I think I would love fishing and having a "cold" one with him!! dr. bob

OK guys. I have a math problem.
I owned my boat for 16 years 3 months.
That's 204 weeks.
Out of all those weeks I USUALLY went fishin at least 1 time every week. Sometimes I went 2, 3 and sometimes 4 times in a given week.
There also were times that I couldn't go out at all during a given week.
MOST of the times when I went out it was for at least 8 hours, sometimes more but not always. I rarely ever went for less than 4 or 5 hours.
NOW, here's the math problem.
How many hours would you say I probly had on my motor using those figures of 204 weeks of ownership and the amount of hours I might average for the year X 16 years + 3 months?
Look forward to the answers.

It might take me a week or two count them, she keeps them in the boxes that our washer and dryer came in.
