I am gonna look into it. If I were to catch a carp what would I do with it?
Gold hooks?

Ed, I contacted our DNR (ifishillinois)and was informed that chumming in Illinois is legal.
Go get‘em.

Thanks Jer. I'm not surprised since they want to get rid of as many carp as they can. They should promote carp fishing.

That's surprising as carp supposedly eat algae and decaying matter thereby providing an organic cleaning service.

But in the process they stir up the bottom and cause the water to be murky which in turn makes it difficult for the other fish to feed.

We took the kids to the pond today. We used worms but didn't get a bite but the kids had fun and lasted about 45 minutes. They were somewhat entertained by watching the carp surface. After two years of trying I've never had a bite. The ponds are very muddy. If I put in a lure after about 5-6 inches I can't see it. I'm beggining to think there is nothing but carp in there. I've tried different colors and a chatterbait. Nothin!

But the kids had fun and nobody got hooked. The 3 yr. old boy peed outside for the first time. And then the 5 yr. old girl had to do it. Now they're ready for camping.

This might help, tie your line just to the hook. You can use a sinker up the line if you need to. Add a bobber and some bee moths and the kids should be able to catch a bluegill or two. And I’ve caught bass on bee moth before. Good luck and thanks for teaching kids to fish!
