Thank you for your investigation reports the cans we use are approved for fuel just don’t have them goofy spouts on them that takes 3 hands to try to operate and as far as the woman killed goes to show stupid people are still roaming around if they’re carrying an open container of gas in the front of a car and try smoking then we’ll write that one off as divine intervention

It’s another DUH thing. People are stupid everywhere. The cans with or without the private company produced spouts are still regulated nationwide. Cans are made different colors and proper storage is required but stupidity is common EVERYWHERE. You said it never happens there. I knew differently. This is a tip of the iceberg. Stupid people are EVERYWHERE gasoline is flammable EVERYWHERE so of course there is fires even in Tennessee. Laws or no laws. I am just another human. It doesn’t matter to me if you use illegal gasoline containers and get away with it. It really doesn’t matter to me but it doesn’t make it legal. It’s just hilarious that you say none of that happens around here. In 5 minutes the evidence proved otherwise.

Have a great day. Keep the gasoline away from the idiots that exist there and the young that do not know better.

Properly stored flammable substances are stored in metallic cabinets if indoors they are vented and installed to code. Different colors mean different chemicals. Properly marked containers and storage cabinets have stickers or metal placards for safety and fire officials.

I know that’s a little technical for the neighbors that blow themselves up but if a few neighbors did it right the risk to the ones we love would be lower.

You are right about stupid people, just last week seen a guy filling up a BLUE 5 gallon drinking water container with gas, go figure. Hope there won't be any little kids thinking they are going to get a drink of water.

If I said never I apologize but it’s not a very common occurrence I can google and find anything anywhere I didn’t say store gas in milk jugs we use gas cans made for gas just no goofy spouts on them and you maybe a lot more technical than the rest of America and if so good for you but I know noone or have ever even meet anyone that has metal vented cabinets in their garages or barns to store gas jugs

I used to be a firefighter, and I learned a lot about flammable liquids.

Gasoline is available because we're dependent on it and have been for about 100 years now. The fact is that there are a LOT of things that are far less dangerous and less polluting than gasoline that have government controls on access.

If I had a container of gunpowder in my home large enough to have the same energy potential as a five gallon can of gasoline, it would cause a lot of alarm if my neighbors knew about it and would probably inspire law enforcement to wonder what the heck I was up to.

I'm not trying to turn the subject to government intervention or whether we should be able to own gunpowder. My point is to illustrate that not many of us really know what gasoline is capable of!

In my teens I lived in Colusa, about 100 yards from the river, I fished quite a bit then, used to pull out quite a few stripers next to the state park a couple of hundred yards upstream from the boat launch, used sardines for bait. For salmon, we'd anchor on the channel below the water towers. These days, I don't fish much in the river. I live near Sacramento, and the banks there are lined with homeless camps. It's not so scenic, and it's not hard to imagine what the homeless use for a 'sanitary facility'. No thanks to those fish! As for Colusa, they've pulled out all the graceful trees along the banks and covered the banks with rip-rap. It doesn't look like a river there anymore, it's the Sacramento canal! These days, I prefer mountain lakes. Fishing isn't just for catching fish, it's something I do to get my emotional batteries recharged.
