On my way home from the spine and nerve clinic today I stopped by BPS to see what might be on sale. Mad house! Santa has come to town and the place was over flowing with kids. No place to park. Babies screaming at the top of their lungs. A line of little sneezers about 4 aisles deep. I went back to the rods to see if they had the salmon/steelhead that I've had my eye on. They did. I told my wife when I got home. "How much was it?" I told her $100. She asked me why I didn't buy it. May the wind always be at her back. I love her to death.

See them at Flea markets often. Way lower than 100. I have a few. Great reels, but bail springs break often.

Yes. I remember when ugly sticks first came out and we thought they were expensive! Now they are on the cheaper end. Now I see G-loomis and Lamiglass rods @ $250 +
Damned nice rods but hard to justify purchase with wife!

I still use a Garcia Mitchell, love it. Also use a Heddon 260r,a quantum 1310mg,a true temper923c. Great old baitcasters. Oh,an old Lews speedspool bb1. Not a bad backup.

Oh hey Spirit. There were three Mitchell reels on Sacramento craigslist the other day. Guy wanted 15 bucks apiece for them. Bein 2 hrs. away I never called him. It looked like one was a 300 and IDK what the other 2 were.

Yep just finished lubing and cleaning a #308. Historically one of the best reel ever made. From France.

You know guys all of these old reels are great but if you had just one to use from here on,just one, what would it be? My choice would have to be the Abu Garcia 5500c.

The 6000 is becoming a favorite with its line capacity. Use xl 17#.
