Wow, what a Tool that boater was. Never did hear or see a communication to the kayaker.

2 guys in the boat and the kayaker in a white yak with a bright PFD on and they didn't see him. Wonder what the outcome was when he sent the pics to the authorities.

Definitely 200โ€™ from another boat, and 100โ€™ from shore unless you are in no wake situations.

The part I don't get is why a boat needs to be close to shore where people are fishing, the question being why not go as wide as you can?

In my younger days before I married my wife, we were fishing by the dam at Folsom Lake and a wake boat was going back and forth as close as he seemed to be able to get while there was a whole lake for him to be skiing on. I started throwing rocks, he got pissed off and came over to where we were at, said he was going to report us, I told him go ahead, that he was going to be told that if he was close enough to get hit with a rock from shore he was way too close. I asked him what was wrong with the center of the lake.

Takes the pleasure of a nice peaceful day away to have inconsiderate jerks. Now we will be trolling and we can't figure out why someone with a whole lake has to go within a hundred feet of a boat trolling.

The wake boats are the worst as they are designed to go slow to produce maximum wake. And of course fishing parallel to the bank they hit you broadside. I've been almost pitched overboard. Dangerous!

It's the same all over Vic. It didn't used to be like that, even 25 years ago when I had my bigger boat. The self centered generation, only educated by the "instant boating safety course", have no clue of their responsibilities. Enforcement of the laws is sorely lacking also.

I can't agree with you on this one Fred. The world has always been full of jerks. There are more people now, so more jerks. I canoe fished back in the 60's. No jet skies as they had not yet reached the production stage, but the jerks were still there. The speed freaks just drove pickle forks back then. They still had to show off with their deliberate start and stop wakes and rooster tails. They have come so close that I have actually been deliberately showered. Most of my encounters were on Lake Shasta and Lake Folsom. Interesting to note that the problem increases proportionally with the heat index and flow of booze. I have also been snagged by trolling boaters when I was bank fishing back in the 60's. Those were not speed freaks, just fishermen with no respect. I have also been near decapitated while at anchor, casting distance from shore, by a ski rope between the skier and boat. That one involved the law due to a seriously injured skier and me in the water. I was 17 years old then. I just lost a little tackle, but no injuries to me or the canoe. Of course suing was not in vogue back then.
You can not fix stupid.

Many times l have had jet skis and power boats towing people on inner tubes find me in a back water and start doing donuts and almost swamping me. Last week I was on a Tennessee lake and the same type of morons started doing donuts just off the boat ramp. The wind picked up and it was making it tough to load my boat on the trailer when the idiots started swamping the boat ramp.

And just think what's going happen now in Florida with our Governor maid a new law as of July 1 2023 anymore can carry a concealed weapon, now I'm the first one to uphold our second amendment but when you turn the kind of people we have nowadays lose without any training when you can use your gun if you are in fear of your life, well what if that was one of those guys in your case someone would be killed and the other going to jail. Best of luck ๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ

Same old tired argument. Everytime constitutional carry comes up, it's the same hyperbole from the Left. Things like blood in the streets and children will suffer and the only thing that does happen is the crime rates seems to drop. 27 States now have constitutional carry and yet none of what you speak has come true.

Again I must smile when I think of hotheads shooting jerks and going to jail. A win ,win. Even if it is totally wrong and definitely a politically incorrect thought. To keep this fishing, that would reduce the pressure on the fish, the boat ramps and the parking. Again, I am joking, but food for thought.

Smitchell, you live in Tennessee and in your area y'all cut you teeth on a butt stock of a rifle, like my dad was from Kentucky and mom from Tennessee but moved to Florida and I was born a few months after that's why I tell everyone that I was in the oven on the way down. I was raised with a gun in my hand, but here in Florida not many people wants to teach the kids how to use a gun and that's the problem when they find Dad's gun they don't know how to handle it and end up killing them self or someone else... that's what I'm saying to carry nowadays they should have to take a class to know how to use it, that's just my opinion ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
