This one goes back 20 years. Salmon River at Otis. Down at Lincoln City. This small River doesn't grow them this big anymore. The hole I caught these two in was closed to the public long ago. Was a hella day.

Big one went 42 LB. The other was 30 something. I fought one in there for a half an hour before losing it. God knows how big it was. I fished with 8 ft Lamiglass, 30 lb super braid and Garcia Ambassadeur 6000.

Nice fish! It's too bad that kind of fishing is a thing of the past.

Nice picture Jeremy, and I’d say closer to 65 pounds or so. I’ve seen 50+ pound’ers caught on the Rouge, and my Uncle John had a 54pounder rep mounted in his living room for years. That fish is A lot bigger. I don’t personally Care where or when it was caught, but it’s a definite Hog! Biggest one I’ve ever seen!

Exactly. The Willamette produces some large and some in the 15-30# range. I agree it's a nice fish. I am not a Cyber Fish and Wildlife Detective nor do I feel like Investigating the picture. I just received because my next door neighbor that liked it on facebook the day it was posted.

Cool. Nice fish. I use to fill the trunk with 3 or 4 buddies worth of Fall Chinook. Coastal Streams. The Bucks have good meat still usually even after they darken up. Hens are a whole different meat quality due to egg production. we landed huge monsters on 15lb Mainline and 12lb Leaders using Maxima Chamaeleon brown line. You can feel the Maxima Chamaeleon line stretch and it can be very advantageous because you feel it stop stretching. Proper drag setting is everything. An older guy taught me how to steer the fish a bit to prevent them from running way up or down the river where they can get in a place impossible to land or net them due to bank or brush.

That afternoon, a couple guys came down with steelhead gear (like I usually use). I remember one guy fighting one the same time I was. We were up and down and around the main river and this big wide Eddie beside the hole and the rocks up against the cliff. As we crossed paths. When I was all said and done we were both re-tieing. They were all big hogs that day. Never had another day like that!

What a catch! Sad that it’s a thing of the past though.
