Good morning stagers all. Got back from spring fishing at Lake Powell yesterday. For this old man it was memorable. The most eerie and unbelievable landscape I’ve ever seen coupled with the largest body of water I have ever been on and I even managed to catch a few fish. What a joy!! Jim Sargent and I fished three days last week We boated 35 on Sunday and kept 15. Only boated 12 or so on Tuesday and kept 5 then Friday we boated around 23 and kept 14. All in all a good fish. My freezer is restocked and Smallmouth bass are beginning to replace Rainbow trout as my favorite fish to catch. The jury is still out, maybe my October trip will put the icing on the cake. Jim caught more fish than I as he used a variety of baits and methods while I stuck with a 4” grub on a 1/4 Oz. jig head that seemed to work pretty well for me. No record breakers or even new personal bests just good fishing, good company, and unequaled scenery. The pictures don’t seem to want to download. I will try them in another thread.😁

No picture can capture the immensity and grandeur of the place. Our catches were nothing to rival the smallies that Ivey and others of you post but lots of good clean fun! I forgot that you can’t have two topics in the new section at the same time. The story is in newest topics.

Nice smallies & certainly a favorite! Is there anywhere I can go in the southwest to fish crappies?

What state are you planning on visiting? There are quite a number of crappie waters all over.

Nice fish, but wow the water is way down. Love the stripper fishing there. If you are lucky, there are walleye there too.

I've seen Lake Powell when the channel depth was 300 ft. and it was still 300 ft. to the top of those bluffs. Awesome and massive. The pics just don't do it justice. Thanks Mike.

I got a text from Jim yesterday and Lake Powell is 60 feet higher than it was in April. That’s a whole lot of water…..😁 Let joy be unconfined….
