Alaska Chinook is on the decline. I was told by a fisherman that had just returned from Alaska last summer they were NOT allowed to bring Truckloads of fish home anymore. I was up there in 1999 and It was great but like everything the only constant in Nature is constant change.

Actually I'm gonna say it's bigger than 65lbs. I caught a 65 pounder at the Nimbus basin in about 1988, and it didn't look that big as judged by a picture I took of me holding it and my four year old daughter standing beside it. I'm 6'2" and this guy may be smaller. That is a big frigging fish... I weighed my fish on a dead accurate print shop scale and Fran and Eddies tackle shop in Rancho Cordova accepted the weight to enter in their yearly biggest fish contest, which I won.

And get this, I caught it on 8lb test... I figure it improved the size of the fish dramatically over my friend who was using 12lb. I rarely caught one under 25lbs. he rarely caught one over 20lbs and 30 to 35 was the size I most commonly caught.

Although this pic looks like the Willamette. This Chinook is way bigger than any June hog I've heard of in the Columbia for years! Clearly two to three times larger than any Spring Chinook that has ever been caught! 😶

You may be right Chuck. If it was caught on the Willamette and is a springer it is an illegal fish, it has an adipose fin.

Illegal to retain. Springs have to be fin clipped. Also, the Willamette is running high right now. the water is very low and looks like summer but still looks like the Willamette.

Yes I made the same visual assumption. I really like sharing fun stuff. I don't care about those that can't support good news. I say get out there and do better instead of having a negative attitude. It will never help add to stockpile of good friendships. Good Morning. Looks like another nice day. Drink water.

If it was caught in the Willamette he’s in big trouble, I see a intact adipose fin. Only fin clipped salmon are legal to keep there.

Oregon City area. I received this message today it appears to have been hooked and landed or boated yesterday. What a nice fish. Fishing in Oregon can be very productive if one applies themself. This young man had one of his best days ever. It’s gotta be 50-60Lbs.

Much like the King Chinook Salmon that run in Alaska. This was caught in Oregon City Oregon. Lucky Day is all I gotta say. Congratulations to this fine young fisherman.

YES sir. Alaska has Chinook. Have you heard about the changes in the last few years up there? I was told by a fisherman that had just returned from Alaska last summer and they were NOT allowed to bring TRUCKLOADS of fish home anymore because they are in the decline as to the good OL DAYS. I been up there and caught a bunch but it figures that we humans have effected nature.

Nice picture Jeremy, and I’d say closer to 65 pounds or so. I’ve seen 50+ pound’ers caught on the Rouge, and my Uncle John had a 54pounder rep mounted in his living room for years. That fish is A lot bigger. I don’t personally Care where or when it was caught, but it’s a definite Hog! Biggest one I’ve ever seen!
