Was headed to DVL for first time this year and found out they had a trout plant yesterday, plus they are getting over 500 visitors a day for the superbloom. Throw in the water is still only 57* and fish are not biting. So decided to go to Lake Perris instead of fighting the crowds. Weather report said sunny and wind 2 mph all morning. Get to the lake about 7:15am and it is blowing 15-20 with whitecaps. Had my buddy with me so we went looking for someplace out of the wind. Finally found a spot on one side of the island. Landed my first fish of the year at 8am, so killed the skunk quickly. Had a couple more bites but didn't get a good hook set. Lake never laid down so decided to leave around 11am. Talked to a few other boats and there were about 5 total fish caught. Fish was 2.8lbs, so not too bad.

Good job... 2 weekends ago I caught my first of the bass of the year there at Perris too... 3lbs. 15oz. On a BFS set up.. what a blast...only 1 fish that day.. Fish should be on the move by now.. ill be out there next week.. Dinger

Thanks Dinger. Was a pretty tough day on the lake as the wind never stopped. Of major concern was the water temp at 55*. I firmly believe for the bite to start up it has to be in the low 60's. There were about 30 boats on the lake with few catching. The few that did catch were mostly on drop shots. Mine was caught on a flyline senko. On a positive note, I did monitor some fish in the shallows.

DV has woken up, try it next time, getting the boat in the water isn't that bad with the walkers.

I don't know how to post pictures but on my last trip I picked up a couple of 2 and 3.5 lb mails off of beds and an 88 yr old friend of mine from Church caught a very nice 6lb 8oz female blind fishing near where a couple of beds were.
I had a blast netting it for him.
