Was headed to DVL for first time this year and found out they had a trout plant yesterday, plus they are getting over 500 visitors a day for the superbloom. Throw in the water is still only 57* and fish are not biting. So decided to go to Lake Perris instead of fighting the crowds. Weather report said sunny and wind 2 mph all morning. Get to the lake about 7:15am and it is blowing 15-20 with whitecaps. Had my buddy with me so we went looking for someplace out of the wind. Finally found a spot on one side of the island. Landed my first fish of the year at 8am, so killed the skunk quickly. Had a couple more bites but didn't get a good hook set. Lake never laid down so decided to leave around 11am. Talked to a few other boats and there were about 5 total fish caught. Fish was 2.8lbs, so not too bad.

Good job Garey. Glad you got ol'stripy off your boat. Welcome to 2023, and the weatherman still sucks! Hopefully conditions will be better on your next trip, so you can concentrate on finding fish and not shelter. I'm gonna start getting my boat ready on Sunday, as we have some warm weather coming next week.(Allegedly).
