I think you might be right Fred.

Yeah Steve, I think a few have been posted here in the last couple years.
Lake Moultre , SC 2016. 1.7 lb
The Warmouth is a member of the sunfish family that has a very large mouth (bass like). It looks like a cross between a sunfish and a rock bass, but is its own species.

Fred... I remember thinking the same thing when I once saw a picture of one. There's a close resemblance as I recall. Can hardly wait to look again, when contest is wrapped up.

They're very similar, if I recall correctly, just have a longer jaw and different color pattern, Maxx.

I already know that I am going to get some flak on this question, because the species in question has many regional names. Many are also claim the species in question is a hybrid.
I did the IGFA research before posting this trivia question.
The IGFA does classify the War Mouth as a separate and distinct species. No foolin!
So today's trivia guestion is in 3 parts
#1 What is the weight of IGFA world record War Mouth?
#2 What state was it caught in?
And #3 In what year was it caught?
Good luck 🤞 to all!
Don't look it up!
Don't cheat!
No foolin

Probably mid 1980s
And guess Florida
South Carolina, 2.27 lbs, 1977.

What was the answer for yesterday’s white crappie question?
Today's trivia,
Special thanks goes to Rock Hound for the best discription of a Warmouth.
Gordon, you were close, real close, with your guess if 2.5 lbs. However you were beat out by Bcmech . His guess was also 2.5 lbs, but he got the state of Florida as well.
Sorry Gordon I can't give you a boat.
And to you Bcmech 1 I can't offer you a boat either, but I can award you the Trivia Crown for the day.
Look forward to another question soon.

My bad I forgot to mention that the record Warmouth was caught in 1985
