Also caught at Skyway Pier but not sure what it is.
Lighting is not so good, but maybe a mangrove snapper?

That is a mangrove snapper one of the best eating fish in the sea. I believe they have to be 10 in Long to keep them and you can only keep five a day.Best of luck👍
It was exactly 10 inches long and I’ve never tasted better fish. We loved it and the Sheepshead. Both delicious.

In the hotest mouths ( July and August) the bigger ones move in and they are around 14-16" long and are really fat and good for a fight 😂
Unfortunately we aren’t here during the summer months. But thanks for the info.
What’s the best bait for them?
Mangrove snapper really like fiddler crabs. Small baitfish also, the bigger ones seem to like fish better than crabs.
Ed's, have you the best baits to use.
When they are biting really good you can use pork rind they have a hard time getting it off😂 Sorry you have to go back the summer mouths are the best for fishing bull red's and snooks are plentiful and fun to catch, if you can handle the heat 🥵 but that's just Florida...
