Bell. If you fill the bottle with "great stuff" and when it gardens up you can scrape out enough at the neck of the bottle so the spool fits snug. That way it won't unspool. Hope you can understand what I'm trying to say.

Actually I do understand. By adding Great Stuff will also add boyancy and a little weight if attaching to a bank line a giving it a toss into the water.
Great idea 💡

In the 60's fishing off of the Dominator, the Ferry and the California in Redondo beach, about a mile out,was fun.
The California was a steel vessel used in the war and famously saved, stranded adventures lives once.
The Ferry was an old ferry boat that had lots of bait fish feeding around the frozen wood paddles.
the Dominator i'm not too sure, but might have been, a big old WWII freighter.
The water was alway's full of fish like bonita, mackerel, albacore, yellowtail, smelt, shark, and the occasional sail fish.
All day long,if you cared to you, you could go between the vessels by getting on the shore boat going between ships. Even staying over night to fish.

I like the bottle idea.
the thing was that we had to let so much line out on the big boats, that setting the hook with mono was not always easy, in the wind. So one of the guys came up with a float with a spring arm that set the hook upon being pulled.
and some times probably even worked. I also, have a million dollar idea. right now the plans are being drawn for a completely portable food grinder/ chopper, that can chew your food for you, even out at fine dinning.
I'll call it "choose yer food".
