Seafoam is nothing more than diesel fuel, cleaning solvent and alcohol. You can make it yourself. It’s 4 parts diesel 2 parts solvent 1 part alcohol… 🐟on

I use rubbing alcohol in the Winter works just as good if not better than Heet. Actually that's about all Heet is is rubbing alcohol

How much do you add per gallon, Whitey. And how often. I also use Marvel Mystery oil. Both in the oil and gas/diesel. Been using it for years…sm24:🐟on

I agree, rubbing alcohol is mostly isopropyl alcohol - but it's generally available in two strengths - 91% and 70%. Go for the 91%, it'll be more effective.

Hello BP, this is a NitroDave from Northeast Ohioio. My 2005 bass boat has that very same motor. After about three years, I experienced some very similar symptoms that you did. The guys at the marina went through all the steps that you have. But they finally cured the problem when they opened up the carburetor and found some fibers and some pieces of grit. They were very small. No idea how they got there, but once removed, she ran like a charm. Just a thought, good marine mechanic is a true blessing , good luck.

I can't recommend a water-separating fuel filter strongly enough!

Yaker I have a 15hp merc Bigfoot on my glastron. I left it sit for at least 2 yrs.
Decided to get it out last yr. It started easy enough but would stall out. I was told about seafoam n put it in.
Got it out fired her up. When she'd start to stall I'd bump the choke.
After a few timesshe would idle well.
Took her to the lake n by end of day she was running real nice. 👍

Great to hear that Grizzly17! I have heard nothing but praise for the Seafoam product. I know there are a ton of engine cleaner/enhancement products on the market...and I suppose they all do something good...but for me, Seafoam does stand up above the pack.

I have saw carb floats melted from use of Heet. That stuff is used in car carbs with metal floats.

In high enough concentrations, yes I could imagine that could possibly happen. But two 12 OZ bottles per 30 gallons fuel, that's like a 1/160 ratio. Ain't happening.

I had my vent line fill with water. Someone moved my vent line without meaning to and put a U pointing down in it. Filed with water from waves. Would run then bog down. Open fuel cap and good for few minutes. Turned U upside down and all good again
