Hey Betts. I have a great after market travel bag that affixes to a Harley sissy bar long or short style. Has great storage. Lent to several friends on our rides. Much better that a back pack With much more storage options. I would gladly lend it to you for your trip. if interested you can PM your address and I will ship it to you. If u find it to fit your needs, use it. If not just send it back to me COD. Happy trails!

I need something that will take up as little space as possible. Every bit counts and it has to fit in my backpack because thereās no place else for it on the motorcycleā¦not on the one weāll be riding, anyway. The 3 piece rods that Iāve looked at are a little more bulky than the telescoping kind. Iām just looking for something thatāll do, not something that Iāll use full time. Thanks, Kerry.

Hope you find one. as far as quality and guide spacing I they they are a little lacking. I have made 6 maybe 7 piece rods (forget for sure the number) that the sections were only about 14" long and went into a small space, but the cost is a lot more then I am sure you would want to spend.

Thanks again, Kerry. Iāll probably only use it once or twice during our trip, so youāre right about not wanting to spend a lot of money on it. āŗļø

Although I havenāt strapped a rod on a bike (Iāve had a dual purpose motorcycle, 3 or4 different streetbikes, and later, a mountain bike (for multi-day wilderness camping/fishing trips) in many years, I never owned a collapsible rod back then, and was able to carry several 2pc, 7 1/2ā ocean rods, and a couple 7ā one-piece bass rods on all my bikes using releasable cable ties, Velcro rod binding ties, and/or electrical tape. The only problem I ever had was not hooking the part sticking out with my foot while mounting the bike. The only reason I got the travel rod is to be able to fit it in my check-in baggage on an airplane. I never needed one when I rode bikes. Now, I never rode a cruiser, a Harley, or a full-on sportbike with a lot of body work, but my last bike was a Honda interceptor with a fair amount of bodywork , and even it had a place to strap any rod I owned. You only need one little piece of frame up front, and one towards the rear (like a passenger grab handle), and you can transport any rod along the side. But yeah, that 3 pc. rod I posted the link to would have been better than dealing with strapping long rods to a bike, for sure! Good luck, and have fun!
