I like soaking overnight in salt water overnight after cleaning & bleeding. Worth anyone trying that out.

You mentioned bleeding out, I am assuming you cut through the gills? We did that to all our salmon and halibut. Makes them easier to clean at the dock and much better eating. I didn't know you had to do that to fish down here? I'm learning something every day and anxious to get my boat in the water here. THX

Haven’t had them smoked but that sounds really good. I’ll have to try that. Thanks

I especially bleed Blues and soak overnight in salt water. I actually soak most every fish I catch or buy at fish markets overnight. Brings out the true taste plus helps rid impurities as we find pollution in our waterways is rapidly growing from the increasing population of our cities. Even the waste water treatment plants produce waters employees that work there wouldn’t drink-“ever.”

Thanks for the bleeding and soaking tips! I have always soaked all my white meat fish in whole milk for about 6 hours. The milk fat stays in the flesh when you drain off the milk prior to cooking. It removes any fishy taste and makes the meat moist.

Anyone seen any action around Wrightsville Beach through Fort Fisher on the surf during this strangely warm weather trend ?

Haven’t seen much action but guys have been out. I did speak to one guy who said he had a few bites. He caught a nice flounder but had to release it.

Thanks a bunch. Yea, I just saw where the fisheries canceled Flounder season because of us terribly ole sports fishermen over fishing but the commercial guys get to harvest pretty much all they want and the shrimpers still get to drag those nets all they want . The madness continues.

I strongly disagree. Bluefish are the best fish to eat. I hope to get some soon

I do love some smoked bluefish, they make a great fish dip, or chunks of smoked on a salad.
