I think its time the entire fishing population know the facts. Or at least know whats going on in Florida when it comes to fresh water discharges from this lake. One thing is true, it killed our grasses for the manaties, wiped out the clams to include the mussel bed that has been put in place by groups interested in saving them. Saint lucie river is invested with catfish. The water has changed at low tide to a more brackish water. Many salt water fish are lossing there habitat to these changes. This has been going on for over twenty years. Governor after governor have promoted the release. Some people of Florida 's answer is if you don't like what is going on, move out. Governor DeSantis has played into the hands of big business, the sugar cane manufactures and does nothing to curb this situation. I would like to hear what you think.

I think you'll end up with this thread in the attic.

I'm not real familiar with this problem, but I will follow as I'm always interested in ecosystem disruption.

Circle hook, I'm from the other side of the country but I'm interested in what you mean by discharge water, do you mean as in with pumps or overflow ,I like seeing Manatees on National Geographic ,one of the most gentle giants in your waters, mussels I love eating them ,so can you elaborate without mentioning the P word or it will get sent to the attic ,not that there's anything wrong with that ,I'm just curious about your waters

If you're not registered in the attic you can't post there. IF you want to, do it through your profile. It's where everything political goes.

Every fresh water man made lake or river ends up in the saltwater. They all go to the ocean. Not sure if it's more dumped in the river you're talking about or what the situation is there. DeSantis is a good governor . And I don't think is to blame. Call your wild life people to see what you can do.

Here’s an article to familiarize yourself with what’s taking place. We have the same problem with high water from time to time on the Mississippi River. We have the Old River structure and the Bonne Carre to divert freshwater to. The Bonne Carre dumps millions of gallons of freshwater into Lake Ponchartrain which is both saltwater and brackish. Alga blooms have occurred along with fish kills in the past. It’s done to protect the levees in high water conditions.

As long as big business gives to the people running this state nothing will ever change. The people of Florida seem to love this Governor. He is just another idiot walking on high heels to hieghten his ego. He has elected to nominate people to take over FPL. Cost have tripled, home owner insurance is out of control, and He has change the law so He can hold on to his job as Governor while running for president. Today put the entire lack of doing anything about our waters entirely on the people, they back and elcected him.
