Doc... I stand corrected. My presumption was that, like with my Shimano spinning reels , the Pluegers had a handle shaft that had a male thread that was held in place with the ( threaded ) cap. Anyhow, my feelings aren't hurt, I'm just a bit embarrassed that once again, I didn't know WTF I was talking about.🙄.

Nutz,
Don't feel bad, I have found myself in the same situation (at least once or twice)... The important thing is to participate in the discussion.... Once again, if anyone out there is looking to try a mid range spinning reel, (fresh water, I have no experience with salt), the Quantum Throttle is worth looking at... Of course I have a brand new President sitting in front of me now..... Tight lines, and enjoy whatever reels you are satisfied with!

I bought a new Pflueger President at the BAss Pro black friday sale in MObile Alabama. First time out I lost the handle in the water (must have worked loose riding in the Kayak for 1500 miles from Kansas to south Florida).

Does anyone know where I can get parts for a reel this new?

Been a lot of opinions good and bad out here,I just bought two reels,a 30 and a 40 size, very smoot operating reels, just a suggestion that may save time, parts and some frustration, if you grab the spool/bail and give the handle a good snugging, they might just stay on better, kinda like torquing lug nuts eh.

That's what I do Salmon. Tight enough to stay but not break. I had a bail screw fall out of a high $ reel. It pays to check all screws an or bolts now n then on reels boats n trailers. Alot of vibration up n down the road n bouncing across the water 👍🎣

I tried a couple of emails to Pflueger with no response. I called the customer service number that Plumbob sent in his reply to my original question and they were very friendly and helpful. A new handle is on it's way at NO CHARGE.

Thanks for all the help

They also sent a different phone number in the email confirmation of my order. 800-554-4653
