So you’re not revealing your top secret. Dont share your fishing experience if you’re not going to the tell people where it is. It’s a big tease

Spot jumpers make it impossible to catch fish. The best fishing is where there are no people. Crowded fishing is not good. It’s a miracle that nobody took over my spot yet. After I am forced out of my spot by intruders, I usually stop catching fish. Some modern fishermen have no respect for other fishermen.

You might reconsider blaming the problem on modern fishermen. I have run into that problem back into the early 60'. Even when fishing is bad, people move in next to you when the whole lake available. Humans have as strong of herd instinct as sheep. Some of us are misfits that did not get that herd gene. Life is what it is.

We call that "Spot Burning " Bands. Or how to turn a good spot, into an overfished, barren spot.

He was very generous in sharing his effective set up, bait and general location. Great post with good information. Do you want him to also bait your hook? Get out and fish. Trial and error will get you on the right spot. It is the search and challenge that makes fishing fun. He gave you exact 2 out of three parts to the puzzle. If you live in Central Jersey and that doesn't get you out exploring different fishing spots, you are probably perusing the wrong sport. Please, do not take offense to this response. It is no way an attack, just an attempt to clarify the situation as I see it.

I am like you, I can enjoy my own company. Here is what drives me nuts I have just a small piece of bank to fish on and here comes the bass fishermen in his fancy boat and fishes almost on top of me. But I get even when they ask me what I am fishing for and I say Carp, and they laugh and ask if I eat them and I tell no I only eat bass.

Many of my posts listed locations but I may not reveal location again. I don’t enjoy crowds when I go fishing and usually catch nothing in a crowd.

In the most densely populated state of NJ, I’ve actually had party boats stop and start fishing right in front of me in inlets where I was catching bluefish. Party boat fishermen caught my line and my bluefish escaped. Night fishing is the best.

True story: I fished an area visible to the road, about 100 yards from 6 or 8 people on a river bank. I caught a red salmon. Within 10 minute all the fishermen in sight had slowly moved in and crowded me. Twice, my line was crossed and snagged with other lines. I packed up my fish and moved to the exact location (now barren of fishermen) that the others had moved from. Within a few minutes, I caught another salmon. ten minute to complete the same scenario. I again packed up and went back to my original spot. History repeated itself until my last move, when I packed up my limit of five and headed to the truck. By the time I left, the fishing crowd had doubled. The cap on the story is that I drove about two miles down river. I hiked in about 1/4 mile to the same river. With no one in sight, I caught a half dozen rainbows and dollys, 2 bigger than the reds, while releasing another limit of reds.. All the rainbows were released. This was back in the late 70's
Bottom line: most people had, have, and always will have a herd mentality.
