Bought another container of 30 red worms at Walmart for $3.76, then went ultralight jigging in 44 degrees Central Jersey lake this afternoon on a cold, sunny day with a light southwest wind. Air temp was only 42 degrees. Saw > 20 fishermen catch and release perch and crappies while ultralight jigging small lures. I caught and released 37 white perch including 3 doubles, 2 yellow perch and a brown bullhead with Walmart red worm halves on 2 gold hooks and a 1/16 oz unpainted leadhead jig on 4 lb test line. Landed the catfish on my last cast of the night. Fish were swirling. Landed 203 fish in 5 NJ freshwater fishing trips this year. Cold weather fishing is torture, not fun.

Nice mess of fish Bands. Are those red worms live? Looked up wal mart here and you have to order them.

You have a great fishing spot and know how to catch fish in cold weather, now if the carp would just begin biting

The lake with 20 other fishermen lined up shoulder to shoulder who come over and fish next to you after you catch a fish.

I caught carp in the warm water discharge of a power plant all winter long until the plant was closed a few years ago. Now I don’t fish for carp until the end of April.

Spot jumpers make it impossible to catch fish. The best fishing is where there are no people. Crowded fishing is not good. It’s a miracle that nobody took over my spot yet. After I am forced out of my spot by intruders, I usually stop catching fish. Some modern fishermen have no respect for other fishermen.
