I always use a mono leader but my main line is braid and I'll use the uni to uni knot and I'll put a small barrel swivel between the braid and mono on my bass spinning outfit.
Thanks for all the info, guys!!

Hey kandiβ¦.thanks for not spilling the beans about me putting the handle on all my reels on the other sideβ¦.canβt imagine the firestorm that would start!
Oops did i post that ? Was supposed to be a private message,π₯Ήπ₯Ή
I use 65# braid for steelhead and salmon, tie on about 15 ft of 30# mono. I use Lighter lines for drift or bobber fishing in rivers for steelhead. Waiting for springers next moth.

Berkeley is my go to line used it for years. And it is priced right.
You should have no problem with eighter one.
I use the Berkeley Vanish 8lb test.
Good luck this year fishing and safe trips.
Just recently had some real issues with the Berkeley Vanish fluorocarbon line(14# test) that has turned me away from it. While fishing, I noticed what I thought was spider web on my line, but turned out to be the line's strands separating. Even after removing that portion of separated line, I noticed that it has done the same thing further into the spool on my reel. I have since replaced the Berkeley Vanish on my reels to remove any risk of line breakage during a PB catch.

Sorry to hear that Diddybop. I've used Vanish Transition, and their 100% Fluoro (regular and XL) for years without issue. I use regular Vanish for leader material and haven't seen any problems there either.

Have you checked the eyes π on your rod ?
Had that happen to me also thank Good I always carry extre set ups.
It was new line all so
Went after fishing and looked closely at my rod eyes π and found a hair line guve in the top eye and the second eye π it took a magnificent looking glass to see them, that is what caused the line to look that.
So check your you rod eyes.
That could be your problem I've never had a problem with Berkeley line but there is always a 1st.
Good luck this year and safe trips on the water π§

A c Another way to check for damaged rod guides : take a Q Tip and run it along the inside of the guides in a circular motion. If there is a crack or burr in there it will catch on the imperfection. It'll leave a tiny wisp of cotton in the bad spot......
I use braid, without every tieing on a leader. If for some reason I ever do need a leader, it will also be braid. Not for everyone but works well for me. I use 6# test braid it is as thin as a 2# mono line, and more abrasive proof.

I cribbed it from somewhere else. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but have learned how to search the Internet and I actually remember some of it, and have a lot of stuff stored in various categories/ folders to check later. Just gotta find ' em when needed, that's the tough part...
