Jeep, I am keeping the Klamath ready to go. I hope to get a few crab and sole trips in if the wind cooperates. It gets cold, but after years of living in both Maine and Alaska, I still have the clothing for it. The Klamath has had snow in it before. It's hard to beat fresh crab in my Christmas seafood chowder. I enjoyed your posts. Have a great Holidays. By the way, I now make all my own Kokanee rigs except the Gods Tooth. You might give it a try to kill some of the winter wair if you don't do it already.

The Solar Plant on my roof is a better and better investment by the day. Well I agree the costs are a pain. Crazy stuff Fred. I still need to winterize NoHurry here. Woke this AM to snow here in The Foothills of Hood. Stay warm everyone. If ever considering good investments, consider Solar my bill went from 250-300 a month to 12 bux. It was a great investment then but all the hikes make it even better. Mama never wanted a wood or pellet stove here so I said then I am buying Solar. I recommend it to everyone. Grid tie is what I am on.

I looked into solar for my place and couldn't get any of the companies to include storage so that my lights would stay on when the power went out, plus I couldn't justify the 40k, return on investment in my case was 50 plus years.. it just started to snow this morning...

Morning, Jeep, Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures. It isn't all bad, I didn't see and white $hi1 on the ground.

Have no fear, it is here... snow is falling this morning, it won't stick at 34 degrees.. later in the week when we hit the 20s then it will...

He lives in Washington State , he can fish all year round too . In the winter months you can fish for Steelhead and soon as the ice melts there are a lot of trout lakes . I lived 35 years outside of Vancouver, Wa. and we would fish all year long. Lots of Coastal streams get runs of Coho's also . lots of fishing opportunities all year round . If you wait for the rain to stop you might never leave the comforts of your home .

Beautiful picture Jeep. I pray all y’all don’t have a dangerous winter situation. It’s a damn shame what’s been done to our country so y’all have to worry about staying warm and eating hot food, if you have it. I’m so sorry y’all have to go through this.😢

Sad, sad thing to hear. SO glad I don't live in a place where I can't fish year round.😢
I am usually out fishin at least once or twice a week all year long.🤠👍

Don't feel bad. He must live in the great PNW, near the ocean and tons of rivers. There is fishing year round. The Steelhead run is next up.

I use oil, and I filled up last week @ $5.27 a gallon. It's gonna get worse before it gets better. An 8% raise ain't gonna cover it. That's ok, I'm more worried about the power going out.

Howdy Fred. I've never experienced using fuel oil. The thought of it doesn't sit well. We have central heat & air from electricity generated by turbins on the river. We also have a free standing wood stove that will keep the house warm in case of electric failure which is common when we have winter ice storms. We went out today to look at a pellet stove. My wife says I'm getting too old to go out & cut wood. I'm also having a Kohler emergency generator installed. We have natural gas to our property so a fuel supply is a simple matter. We've never had a severe snow storm but we can get ice storms that can down power lines that take from days to weeks to repair. I need to be better prepared. But, fishing season never closes & the lake doesn't freeze so if a man bundles up he can have fresh fish year round. I hope you have a mild winter this year Fred, you & all the forum members.

Thanks Coon. Oil is common in small towns up here. Gas in the cities. They just ran a couple gas lines through town but only on the 2 main roads. They wanted to hook up the municipal buildings, retailers, industrial parks, fire department, etc. Oil is fine when the price is normal, $2.55 2yrs ago, $5.29 today.

You don't store it. Grid tie is tied to the power you use now. 50 years is never the return on investment time. I was paying $10,000 within every 3 years. So within 9 years (at that rate and time) I will of gotten $30,000 worth of power out of it. People do not add up the value properly is what usually happens. They also think they should use batteries or store it. The power lines are right there that is the storage per say. At the time I did it we received 30% of the cost. It was a $50,000 system but only cost about 30.

If your out far from powerlines is when it makes sense and saves money to use batteries etc.

Power bill is 12 bux now. If you use propane or gas it may not be as good of a thing. We only use electricity and its all made right here. I feed the grid excess power then use it this time of year.

stay warm.

You are absolutely correct... if you are all electric in your home it could make sense.. in our case having a 75 dollar a month average electric bill did not leave much to cover the monthly fee even after rebates ... month cost would have been 350 per month for twenty years... and it still would not keep the lights on if the power went out... installed a whole house generator instead.. natural gas powered... which was my primary goal .. lights and happy wife... lol

I get it. That makes sense for your location. We hardly ever have outages. Dirt Bike ranch has batteries and solar panels and generator.

happy holidays....there already here.
