I'm lying here eating this hospital food. I'd love to have a big greasy burger with grilled onions, mushrooms. lettuce, tomatoes, mustard with a slice of grilled pineapple. Only greasy french fries will work. I'll be out of here tomorrow & I can get some real food.

My sympathies bottomcoon. Nuthin worse as hospital food mostly.

No, if you know it's coming it's just not the same. Here's the therapy scoop. Right now I put my leg in a machine that moves it up & down. The up motion started at 55 degrees & increases 5 degrees daily. 3 sessions daily each 2 hours long. -5 degrees down. The 1st 15 minutes of a new degree are really tough, the machine probably isn't in use in Minnesota. Next I do repetitive side to side & up & down leg movements. Doing them quickly isn't too bad but slow is pure torture. Started with 10 repetitions of each exercise 3 times daily increasing by 5 repetitions a day. Tomorrow's 20 reps each will certainly be a torture test. So far I've done them all but the real fun begins when the physical therapist shows up for 3 visits per week. I only hope I don't need him to help me bend anything. If it was any more fun i couldn't stand it. My goal is to take this new knee fishing in 3 weeks. My butcher says 4 weeks but I am pushing myself. Anybody can do it in 4 weeks. I just don't want to do any harm to my wound. Besides, if i don't heal up quickly old Charley will find a weak spot. Regained consciousness in a field hospital in vietnam's highlands in 1968. I should have been dead, dead, dead. Over 3 months in the hospital. I should have been looking at the grass roots but I had a second chance. No one, except a man with a like experience can harbor the love of life, the joy in a beautiful sunrise or the 1st cry of a grandchild as a man who's literally seen his last day. We're all brother's here & I'm telling you, get out there & enjoy this life, it's the only one you're going to get. I'm through.
