44° air temp.at the ramp, 56°water temp. Two trailers in the lot, and one leaving (2guys, skunked). Headed straight for the dam, deepest part of the lake, and it was nearly empty of life. No Calico, or Yellow Perch, and only 2 light bites in some deep wood. Spoke to the guy with the nice Bassboat and he was skunked also, Bass and Panfish. I missed the 2 bites after talking to him, so I left the dam and did a lap around the lake. I saw the other boats leaving while eating my lunch, so I headed back to the dam. Put away my old reliable Watermelon Dinger and got out a Junebug. Started working the bank with the wood,in the opposite direction from the morning. BANG! A 1lb 5oz Largemouth. Circled around for another pass, and Bang again, 1lb 3oz, made a third pass, Bang, 1lb 8oz fish. Though I was on to something, but 4 more passes were fruitless. Called it a day at 2:30.

Thanks Mark. Up here it usually works better earlier in the year, but worked well today. I get a lot of nibblers on Wacky worms, of any color. I try not to use them unless I know for a fact, there's bigger fish there.

That walleye was caught on that bass lure however.

Mine was on the jointed Scatter Rap.

Regular Shad, no bright colors.

I had just caught a Largemouth on it, fan casting a shallow bay. I decided to head out to the islands, but didn't want to bother pulling up the trolling motors. I fired up the Merc and just putted out toward the islands at about 3.5 mph (I won't go over 4mph with the trolling motors dragging in the water).I figured what the he!!,I'll drag the lure while I'm going out there. As soon as I came off the drop from 15ft down to 30+ft I got wacked. It's a shallow running bait, so I was blown away when I saw it was a Walleye. My first, only, and PB. LOL.

Good morning Fred,
I love that little lake. I use to fish it a lot when I lived in Middletown. I would troll along the side where the boat ramp is and straight across the lake using a silver and purple "rapala" type lure. Would always pick up some nice crappie.

Looks like you did alright, had fun. That's the main thing.

Thanks Speck. I dragged a weighted Fluke across from the beach to the dam cove yesterday. No takers.

Looks like a fun day to me. Thanks for the photo of your worm set up. I wish others would do that. It might just be the best teaching tool ever. Thanks again.
