44° air temp.at the ramp, 56°water temp. Two trailers in the lot, and one leaving (2guys, skunked). Headed straight for the dam, deepest part of the lake, and it was nearly empty of life. No Calico, or Yellow Perch, and only 2 light bites in some deep wood. Spoke to the guy with the nice Bassboat and he was skunked also, Bass and Panfish. I missed the 2 bites after talking to him, so I left the dam and did a lap around the lake. I saw the other boats leaving while eating my lunch, so I headed back to the dam. Put away my old reliable Watermelon Dinger and got out a Junebug. Started working the bank with the wood,in the opposite direction from the morning. BANG! A 1lb 5oz Largemouth. Circled around for another pass, and Bang again, 1lb 3oz, made a third pass, Bang, 1lb 8oz fish. Though I was on to something, but 4 more passes were fruitless. Called it a day at 2:30.

Not bad Fred. I have to try something other than minnows. I have too many lures to not try different options and see what happens. It beats getting skunked. Our water temps are still around 68 on Douglas. Too warm yet I think. We have had a few bass lately but no crappie unless they are hitting after dark.

3 nice bass, no PB, but decent.
Thanks for the pictures and the update.

Alright Fred. Nice goin and nice fish. Congrats buddy.
It always gets me when a lot of the other boats, and some are Guides, come in and they either didn't catch ANY or very few and they say the fish just aren't here. I never tell them how many we caught.
They wouldn't believe me anyway.
I always tell most of the people we caught a "few".

Thanks Greg. There are a million little Crappie jigs out there. Bobby Garland's are supposed to be good. Just buy a bunch of different colors, I hear they get fussy. Take notes from Brad and Andy, as to what they use. As far as Bass go, most days you can't beat an unweighted Yum Dinger, in Watermelon/Red flake, June Bug, and Green Pumpkin. Especially if you're fishing around blowdowns, or docks. On open water, Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, and Topwater baits all work at times. I only fish artificials, because I like to contribute something to fooling the fish, and convincing them to eat something man made.

Thanks Steve. No Hawgs, but no skunk, so it's all good. I see guys, even tournament fishing, only throw one thing all day. Then they say they're not biting. I usually try 4 or 5 different things, and then go back to the stick worms. I usually catch something anyway.

I have 3 jig colors for crappie. Used the chartreuse one and had some luck. I also have some that look like white worms for crappie plus some worms. I could use some more bass lures. I have a blue bait for bass. Caught a 5 llb walleye on it. The guide Bear and I used last May was surprised.
