So best if you worked for State of Oregon and Retire. Then they give us a little more to make up for it. If move out of Oregon as retiree you lose some of your pension. Do the math on paying sales tax on every single thing except in prepared food …pet food etc Cars… to higher income taxes. I’m still way ahead. 8$ gas… 25 dollar lunch. I been rolling around in California. I am so grateful to be an Oregonian… I don’t feel disadvantaged whatsoever.

I think it’s great so many dislike Oregon. The less that discover it the better for us long term residents. House I bought for 170 is now worth 450… just fine for everyone to stay away…

Hey Jeremy, I'm just curious....
Does your property tax on your home go up when the value increases 150%?

We recently left Washington state for Florida and the wife and I just rode out Hurricane Ian. We’d do it again…just to be away from that liberal nut-job Governor of Washington and what he’s done to the western side of that once beautiful state! We’ll never go back to that wasteland after seeing what’s happened to it over the last 15 years! We barely survived there between the godawful taxes, weather, homeless dregs, and did I mention, the Taxes?…☘️

Have you ever payed attention at the purchase of your pet food is taxed 8.25percent on every dollar spent.

here it is 8-10% sales tax depending on where you live. no income tax. it really doesn't matter what kind of tax you have they are going to get the money some how. I think property tax is the most regressive and unfair tax especially if based on the changing value where taxes are raised as house prices go up. income tax is only fair if it is a flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage. sales tax is sort of in-between. everyone pays the same percentage and in theory thise who make more will spend more and thus taxed more. to your original question I see your point and I don't think food and medicine should be taxed not sure about pet food, or livestock feed got to draw a line someplace

Obviously. Anywhere and everywhere. I will never vote for sales tax here. The property and income tax will not go away if sales tax is started. I just was in California for a month. I paid higher prices on everything and the higher prices were all taxed too. I really have some good friends and family there but I am grateful I split 30 years ago. I will enjoy visiting but happy to of just arrived home.

A flat tax has always been the fairest. On income. You know the 1% rich B Terds will never let it happen. Those with the most money will always have the most control and they will never care about the rest. I know a flat income tax of like 4% or something maybe less would fix a lot… but you know many don’t think there should be any taxes at ALL. Go figure. You know fire departments use to only be for the RICH. Many that don’t think there should be ANY taxes sure like roads… fire departments… police.. all the benefits but never feel like paying their fair share.

most are not against taxes just taxes they have to pay. most are upset at how those taxes are spent and the waste that they see and lack of priority and accountability in how it is spent and sometimes down right fraud
