Not setting records, not getting skunked either. Has been good for a 1.5 to 2 pound Lmb most of the time. I have to work a variety of baits to get to them. Top water chugging a 6 inch silver Rapala has been the latest success story. Quick picture, lesson learned, released, that bass won’t be hitting a floating Rapala for awhile.

Glad to hear that you're having success. That brings back memories. A chrome/black back Rebel was my go-to for many years when I was young. I still have some with half the chrome worn off. I should throw some next time I get out. Thanks for the reminder. Keep at it brother, they'll get more playful as the water cools down.

Picked that one up at a pawn shop for $3. Hard to find wood ones and new is about $12. Another facet of fishing. Finding good old lures.

It's nice to see the resurgence of some of the classics. If they worked back in the day, they'll work now. You don't need the latest, greatest, $25 Megabass stickbaits, when a classic Rapala or Rebel will work as well.
Topwater classics like Hulu Poppers and Jitterbugs still produce when used in the right conditions.

Thanks Russ, I love to share the misery :-)
At least we got out, and didn't get skunked. I've had it up to my eyeballs with the bogus weather reports. Even the radar is wrong. The other day, after covering my boat, in the rain, I checked the radar on my phone. The nearest precipitation was over 30 miles away! WHAT THE HE!!
Good Luck and Tight Lines buddy, hopefully they get it right tomorrow.
Thanks Russ, I love to share the misery :-) br At ... (show quote)

Good morning Fred. Total skunk yesterday and a $50 parking fine. One boat launch is closed, so I was told the other launch was free parking by a city employee. Evidently the city police didn’t get the same message. I’m definitely going to protest the fine.

That sucks Russ. Skunked is enough of a letdown, but coming back it and finding a ticket ruins the whole day. I would definitely contest it.

I love the wiggle of an orange rapala, as it twitches on calm waters early in the morning...
