I live on Lay Lake. I walk the banks.
I live really close to the steam plant. Right below the LSU house. I have maybe about 500 yards that I can bank fish from. So please if anyone can tell me what to throw and how to. Color, type of lure, size, what size line what ratio of reel, rod length, action, power. I am like a sponge. So all and any tips will be appreciated. Thanks

Good morning, AB, and welcome to the Forum. For us to help you, you have to narrow our playing field down a little. The two biggest questions to be answered would be what kind of fish are you targeting, and what is your budget?

¡Welcome to the Fishing Stage, ABfishin2! Yeah, what flyguy said: "We" gotta know "what's on the menu"... You MIGHT wanna use something as simple as a worm on a hook, with or without a bobber. (Good morning, flyguy!)

I find it interesting that you live on a lake and don’t have a clue how to fish 🎣 it

If this is the normal feed back. I don't want to be a part of something like that.

I know that I am a novice. But I have been fishing Lay Lake all my life. I really just got back into it around 2 years ago. I have bought several reels and rods. I watch fishing religiously. I know more than what I explained earlier. Not a dumb butt like D whatever was trying to make me out as. I just can't find the right thing to do. So please help. And thank you guys for showing me a little respect. Sir to me that goes a long way.

If you're going after ang catfish. Try some sonny's stink bait in a carolina rig. That's what I use here and I only got skunked once tring in cold weather. Good luck. I don't do much other freshwater fishing to help out there.

If all you want is respect all you can’t handle the criticism maybe you should try the fish 🐟 market where you will have a higher success rate 😜 the last time I check it’s called fishing not catching you have bad luck 🍀 it makes the good days much more pleasure and appreciated and don’t call me names because you can’t except it

ABfishin2 try to ignore the disrespect, 99.9% of folks on here are helpful and respectful. I usually don’t respond to certain types of comments but this hit a nerve. Maybe user name of a hole would be a much better fit for one individual. Having no knowledge of Lay Lake suggest you try green pumpkin or black worm either Texas or Carolina rigged, small medium running crankbait & popper in shad colors, and of course live bait. Good luck!

Alan, I live in Birmingham and we also have a house on Logan Martin. We fish Lay often with the High School Bass team tournaments. Bank fishing right now is tough because of the heat and water temps. Most Bass have moved to the main channel and will stay there until late September or October. Maybe try early in the morning (before sunrise...but still daylight). Try anything top water (frogs, spooks, whopper ploppers). Next trick would be at night (10pm+)...ned rigs, senkos, big black worms....and fish SLOW....
Good luck!
James

Alan, just another thought...go to Beeswax boat ramp.... follow past the launch and go to the back two raised piers at the park....fish between the two piers....we have had success there....at least we did at our last State Tournament at the end of June!
