Another absolutely fantastic place to get local fishing information would be at myodfw website when you click on fishing report and you can get reports from all over the state. These include local trout stocking information, warm water fishing reports and salmon, steelhead and sturgeon reports. It will also include any changes to regulations that have happened recently.

I looked on line under “fishing near McMinnville” and it listed some spots.
I live in North Albany and fish at Foster Lake near Sweet Home.
It’s a bit of a drive for you but I’d love to introduce you and your little guy to my favorite spot’s!

Elteec,

Hagg lake north of Gaston has bass and trout. Usually best in the spring.

I used to fish the upper Tualatin when I was a kid out of Cherry Grove, not sure about now.

Yamhill River off of Willamina Creek has Blackwell Park?

Check with Sportsman’s Warehouse. They have a good group in Salem.

Turner Lake in Salem has trout and bass also.

A good patient man is key to young boys. Well done

Howdy Elteec,
Here is the best place to take Nephew. It’s only about 12 miles south of Mac and has a lot of trout in it.
Just pack a lunch, your favorite camping chair, pole holders and your gear. There’s not much for shade around the lake so take your own shade umbrella’s.
We are talking your basic Worms or power bait will do. The early bird gets the trout! Have fun
