Fishing throughout Mn. the best deterent I've seen is retired enforcement (usually DNR) volunteering a few hours at the busiest ramps to keep things moving.
They are extremely effective walking down the line telling the next few rigs to pull your straps, put your plugs in, etc.
As well as telling people not to stop at the top of the ramp after loading. After directing doorknob #20 these volunteers can become very direct.

I envy some of the great freshwater fishing in other parts of the country, but on holidays it is great to be in a small town on Puget sound and have all the open water I want without wake boards and jet skies. Only crowded days and then, at the ramp only, are crab, shrimp and Salmon openers. I could go to the most popular areas and fight the crowds, but why would want to. I don't seem to have the herd mentality of most humans. I do have big smallmouth, and excellent kokanee fishing, but I reserve that for weekdays.

I wish we had a program like that Steve. We can't even keep picnicers and sightseers from parking their cars in spots clearly marked "Boat Trailers ONLY".

I'm pretty slow loading all my crap into my boat (in the rigging area), and I often wave others to go around me if they're behind me,but ready to go. But when they fly by the rigging area, and proceed to load their boat at water's edge, my pressure goes up 100 points. What the He!! do you think we're doing in the freaking Rigging area???? Morons!!!!

I thought we had all the inconsiderate jerks here in Oklahoma but it sounds like their inbred relatives live about everywhere. Lake Eufaula had a death yesterday. Our Lake Tenkiller has a huge fireworks display every year near the dam. I was a great dad & took my family out in the boat several years ago to watch the fun from the water, along with about a thousand other boats mostly piloted by someone who had been drinking all day. It was a great learning experience. At the end of the display every boat tried to be first at the docks, in the dark. I'll never do that again. My boats stay in the barn on holidays.

The last time I encountered a bit of a "Fuss" at a ramp on a holiday weekend, the news followed me for at least 3 counties... LOL At least I got my point across!!!

We have the same thing at Lake Almanor. Hundreds of boats on the water is quite a sight. Luckily, most boats come from their own dock so the ramp is not to bad. I remember when my daughter was about 5 we launched for the show. She was sitting on my lap and just before the show began my lap got real warm and wet. Why'd you do that I asked? No where to go Daddy. What do you think the live well is for I replied?

This is our cove 7/2. The core won’t put a no wake buoy in after requests. What you don’t see is the stick-ups on the left and the right side of the cove. Watercraft fly in and out all day long, and most of the squatters are in the middle. Boating laws are all but gone in this situation, common sense forgotten, boating etiquette non existent.

I have a little different take. You need to remember that not everyone can back their boat down the ramp and launch it in a flash. Some people have difficulty and they have a right to that ramp as well as anyone else. Give them some slack. I agree with those who complain about others that don’t show courtesy to others while at the ramp or on the water. If you can avoid weekends and holidays then do so as, for some reason, those times bring out the crazies. There is a nearby lake that I only fish on a weekday morning. I’m off by noon because the druggies don’t wake up until later in the morning and I’m off the lake when they get there with their watercraft. Be careful out there. Have some patience.

A buddy of mine has had that happen to him and his 89 year old pop in law before. He found out that those pickup truck beds with the square holes in them that are open on the bottom will accommodate a lot of small fishes like croakers. He also started carrying a jar of Vaseline to lube up their door handles. In other words, It's really not a good idea to mess with a Vietnam Vet (Special Forces) and his peace of mind. Please don't try this at home.
