The 8lb braid is smaller in diameter and you can put more on after after your backing. And I have found out you can cast farther and accurately.
Andy. I do most stuff different than others. I rarely use a leader n if i do it's short. I use 8lb mono mostly as backing n run straight braid. If i use floro i still use 8lb mono backing n straight floro. I only use a leader if I'm using hi vis braid or floro. As far as line twist i don't find line weigbt a problem unless you get real heavy. Shut the bail by had don't reel slack. Since I've got in that habit i haven't had line twist. I believe in K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid LOL. I don't mind hard work but I'm not working harder than i have to to get it done 😏😏

I'm with you on that saw. I some times go to 20 since its so small.

Agreed.
I prefer Seaguar smackdown or suffix 832 in 20 pound on spinners. Great line management and very efficient
Power pro is good line too.
For 20 pound mono equivalency we are talking 100 pound braid. Biggest I use is 80 and it’s 17 pound equivalent

If you ever get snagged with this stuff , you will either
A. Pull up the whole tree
B. Break something , rod , wrist etc
C. Capsize the boat.
D.All the above

Ben i still have some 80lb power pro i got in late 80's for surf fishing. I think 2moro I'll tie it to my mower tie other end to a handle n see if it breaks. I have 50lb on one rod for slop.

I use 80 on my musky rigs
Getting hung up is a mess
You don’t want to lose a $35 lure
You don’t want to slice your hand to the bone
Musky lures have heavy hooks so straightening them is a challenge.
Getting un stuck sux.

Thinking of putting some braided line on one of. my spinning reels and wanted to put on the equivalent of a 20lb line. What's best?

On spinning reels, I recommend 10-20 lb braid (4-6 lb diameter), and not any

higher than 30lb (8lb diameter) braid because you start to lose castability and risk birds' nests and wind knots.

Tie Proper Knots – Braid is slippery compared to mono and fluorocarbon lines, so it's critical you tie good knots.
