Fake fishing!

Bass face

Ok, I’ve brought this subject up more than once... but, it’s really getting to me! After watching a bass fishing video today, I’ve had enough! Electronics are ruining the essence of fishing, and society in general! Spending an hour or two graphing a body of water is a joke! Finding fish electronically is weak! I am loosing all respect for so called “ pro anglers “! Again, I call for a competitive series without electronics! I challenge all fisherman to turn off the “ cheat screens “ for a season. Find out how good you are “ really”! Video game fishing is a disgrace and an insult to our forefathers... like the late great Gerry Mckinnis... RIP. Getting one up on Mother Nature is through tried experiences... not through a computer screen! As far as I’m concerned, bass fishing has now come down to naturalists and fakers! There really isn’t even an argument.…, if you use electronics, you suck! Period. Sorry, but your cheating and you know it! You may call it progress, or, the way it is now, it’s just the times... it’s just weak! It’s cheating, it’s laziness, it’s all things wrong with society. And, now it has leaked into fishing. So sad! 🏄🏼‍♂️🎣

I don't think you are older than me, but your views on the advancements to technology is like the candle makers in an era of electric lights. What your personal views are may matter to you, but I doubt those of us that use sonar give them much weight. You accuse us of several character weakness's without knowing any of us. I suspect you have been waiting to vent your criticisms for a while as I have not seen anyone else go off the handle as you have done. Think what you well, but when you go off like this you expose yourself to the same criticism, and hold your sanctimonious self up to public humiliation. Fish anyway you like but it might be a good idea to stay far away from those of us that are technologically aware. OBTW, I am 73 years old.

How far back would you have us go? Boats with no motors? Eliminate live wells? Cintrifugal brakes in reels? Carbon fiber rods? These are all technological advances you don't seem to have any problem with. Let's tie a vine to a tree limb and use a bone hook with a worm on it. Primitive enough for you? I'm 71.

I think like several of you on here. You fish how you want to fish, what you want to fish for and keep some or throw them back as you see fit. We are all adults and a lot of us are at least 65 or older so we have earned the right to do what we want to do, and how we want to do it.

I have electronics and know nothing about using them. They should be simplified and use common language on their buttons. For example, push here to see fish. Push here to see the size. Push here to find out where you are.........you get the picture! They are hard as hell to use. More power to those who can understand them. Even those who speak in tongues have interpreters.

I don't use electronics because I was frustrated watching my friend's screen. I think it actually did speak in tongues. it just looked like something else to break. Those of you who like them, good for you. Those who hate them, good for you, too.

Only the pro folks got all that time to idle around looking for fish days before tournaments! Most are release tournaments that release right next to ramp! Just cast around ramps for hot spots. Beside one or two quick cast to a dock works better than drive by scan and return to cast?

If I had a boat, I would probably use one .... I'll take the advantage. Tournaments perhaps should not use them, however, everyone has the same advantage if they do. If you want the "purist" fishing, go fly fishing ... if you fly fish you know what I mean.
All fishing for me is cathartic. Enjoy.

I use them, but mainly for depth, temp, and GPS. I don’t see any reason not to. I’m not good enough to tell what kind of fish I’m seeing or what to use to catch them on. In fact I have never seen any electronics that tell you what lure or bait to use. For me it’s more of knowing where I’m at and how to safely get from point A to point B, especially when you don’t know the body of water. I grew up using a cain pole and worms to fish. Using electronics does not make me weak, a cheat, or anything else you may have mentioned. Fish the way you want and let others do the same.

I agree with dolphin 60 just use mine for nav and depth in unfamiliar water I also haven’t found the button to tel me what bait,, retrieve speed or any other nifty tricks to catch fish I fish in a long slew off main river that’s covered up with fallen trees on both sides so fish are there just got to hook em no electronics can do that for you
