I remember when it was nothing but dirt tracks and 800 horse powered junkyard car's that growled all night 3 miles from my house in Texas and worked with some driver's who were always black and blue from after and during race flights.

I'm curious if there are any auto racing fans here and which series you follow. I'm somewhat into NASCAR Cup series but not like I used to be. Mark Martin, Rusty, Bill Elliott, Davey Allison, etc. was my time. I'm liking the resurgence of Indycar the last few years. Currently I'm watching the Indycar race at Road America Wisconsin. A most beautiful track and the driver's favorite. Good track food(brats) and great atmosphere. I've been to about 15 races there and the family with me about 10 of those times. Sadly it has become too expensive. Any other fans out there?

I no longer follow NASCAR seem like the races are pretty boring these days. I do follow Indycar I think it is much better racing. Then I might have a bit of a bias since I live in Indy
I always loved going up to Elkhart for the June Sprints especially the parade thru the town of Elkhart Lake! Was always a great time. First time for me was 1975. $15 for a weekend pass. Cost more in beer than to see the full weekend of racing!

I used to like nascar until they went to the chase at the end of the season and only 10 or 12 cars were allowed in. I always thought the points championship should be the entire season, now if you are 1 point short of the chase, you can't win championship.
So now I have been more into super bikes racing.
I am a racing fan, Primarily F-1, but generally any form of road racing, also motorcycle racing. At 79 I am a bit long in the tooth now but in years past I raced motorcycles a bit (flat track, moto-cross). Still ride my old Harley a bit.
I still watch all sorts of races. NASCAR is no longer what it used to be. There is an open wheel electric series in Europe but I don't watch. My current NASCAR favorite is 'Happy' Harvick. I took him as my driver when he stepped in after Earnhart Sr. died.
But he aint doing good lately.

Being as I am a motor head I have enjoyed Auto racing forever. Off Road is my biggest interest I grew up in the Mojave Desert. I used to go to Off Road races there several times a year.
I used to go and watch at Glamis from time to time. My wife was amused to see a phone booth and bathroom in the middle of nowhere.

I lost all interest in Nascar when the "powers that be" decided to stop racing STOCK CARS. I admit that the cars were modified for racing but the cars started out STOCK. Lost interest in most racing when the big corporations took over with their big check books. BTW, I grew up 3 blocks from Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which incidentally, is NOT in Indianapolis.
NASCAR is like fine wine. Once you had the $5 stuff you never go back to the cheap stuff
Get NASCAR out of the France family control and I’ll start watching again

Nascar stands for:
NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION of

RACING
Not "KIT" car racing, there are no standard stock parts. BTW, I am also not a fan of veggie burgers either.
