Here is round 1 to see if a height in the seat will affect balance. Sea trials weather permitting next week.

I Thank everyone for the suggestions and ideas.

Good luck. I hope you have resolved it.

Leaning towards a 2- 2x6's across from side to side.

Any other ideas?

I like your seat height like it is Plum. Raising it further could change the center of gravity and make it tippy. I wish I could help but I don’t have any ideas. My yak has a seat mounted low and at the end of the day it’s hard to get out of. Usually after paddling back to the launch point, I just sit in and rest a few minutes to get the momentum to raise myself up to get out. I’m going to borrow your idea about a dog leash or something to help pull my butt out of the seat. Good luck with raising your seat. 😎👍

Plum, if your height adjustment works out well, and doesn't make the yak too tippy to use, try this. Remove your seat mount slides from the hull, cut some wood strips to the same height that you need, attach them to the hull, and reattach your seat mount slides to the wood. Just a thought.

PB, you gotta be careful of raising the seat 💺. If it’s too high you’ll be off balance. I’d try a 2X4 first and see how it feels when you’re on the water. Also, you can install a cleat, put a rope or a tie down strap on it, and it will help you when you want to stand up by holding on to the rope or whatever’s there. I’d also put something on the floor of the yak to keep you from slipping when you stand up. Just thinking.

Fred, that was my original thought with a 2x6, but before making a major change going to see how height change goes first.

Plumbob....how about a standard throw cushion to sit on. It would give you the 2inches and be an extra flotation device in case of a rollover!

Throw cushions generally don't maintain the 2" you mention. 1/2 - 1" would all that could be gained.

After looking at your setup, even if you add a 2x6 you will probably need to get extended screws for your lockdown/adjusting points. How about 1" aluminum square tube (available at Home Depot), cut exactly like your current lockdown, double them up, add longer screws... just thinking. I'm originally from Louisiana...we can make anything work 😂

Been playing with the idea of anchoring to the 2 mounting areas that have 4 holes each behind the seat on each side to attach either aluminum, or a 2x6 from side to side. One in the back and one in the front and anchor the seat to which ever product i go with.

I am guessing here that the name is Propel. No paper work came with it. It was a craigs list purchase in January 2021 when Covid was at it's peak and the guy was selling them out of his garage because the office was closed.
